that is sadly why we all end up doing. we just turn into 100% investors who just hold bitcoin to sell at some point and take the fiat to use. and bitcoin stops being a currency if we continue this way and price will also take a big hit if this happens.

op clearly asked for investment advice. if we all stop investing in btc, what do you think would happen to the price? another important point is that in order to reach mass adoption, price must be way higher than now. so no, not sad but good. if price is high, utility will develop.

If there is a mass adoption then it will directly contribute to the higher price of bitcoin and the demand of bitcoin is increasing at a moment and that is the reason price is climbing up and it will go even higher when more people will invest their money in bitcoins.

Oh, this was 10 months ago, so the OP earned 250% if he is still holding the whole twelve bitcoin now, for sure you are celebrating of that, I guess you better hold on for long because for sure it will grow higher in the future, so who ever hold their bitcoin hold it up because we are still increasing in value because of the demand of it in the market. Let us hear some from OP if he is still around here, how was it? Did you invest it or spend it already? Great to see if you earned profit from that keeping that bitcoin in the long run.

A very good statistic to keep track from... what else could have given him +250% gains?

He went from $5,400 to $13,764 and all he did was sit on his bitcoins. He would have probably losses his investment in the altcoin market.

It seems clear to me: holders always win, but of course, if you want bigger faster gains, you must take bigger risks than just holding.

If he's planning to hold again for few more years then sure once again he might experience a big price increase similar to the one that happened in a very short time of around 10 months time. By the next halving we can feel the 200 or more percentage of profit.

I said at the time of the halvening that'd it would lag in its effect and we did see that mostly.  The coin price sold off afterwards ?  Too many held it expecting some supply squeeze to take immediate effect.    What we are seeing now is really the first echo of that reduced supply and its occurring now as its worked through stocks people bought up ahead of the news and now you just have the real price resulting from similar or even higher demand vs a supply that halved.

What I see in the price is quite surprising, its selling but not especially being weak.   People are picking up coins on lower prices, some is genuine demand and its always mudded by speculators but thats how Im reading the price graph.    I might just imagine it but it seems reasonable it can go higher

Do nothing, just keep it in your wallet, bitcoin itself is the best investment, you don't need do anything.

it is the safest investment because you will avoid scams and other frauds. other than that you just have to sit and let the bitcoin prices go up and you get the benefit

Holding bitcoins will give best returns in future as price is increasing and it will go even higher in future so in that case holding is the best way as it is also safe and there is no risk of loosing your bitcoins as investing it anywhere involves risk of loosing them.

How can you be so sure about this? Just because the coin is halving and it is become rare does not make the price will keep rising forever, this coin will get the saturated price which is we never know when will it be. What do you mean there is no losing your bitcoin? May be you dont loose your bitcoin but the value will be lose if the price keep on falling

Thats what I'm doing, but many coins are circulating, even when you dont think people buy stuff with bitcoin. Casinos are great way to turn them around, some lose, others win. I personnally dont want to hit myself in the head if few years from now bitcoin rise significantly, and I spent coins on some online purchase which I could easily buy with fiat.

12 btc is a huge amount to have and cannot afford to loose a single penny out of it, so without taking any risk I will prefer to play safe by simply holding them till the end of the year and if price goes high then will sell them and invest that money in real world.

Why stop at $1200 when we all know that the price of bitcoin will increase much higher in the future? There's no reason for you to cash out at that price unless you're a day trader and you know that the price of bitcoin once the price has reached that certain price. Since most traders lose money from trading, it would be much better if you just continue holding that 12btc unless the time comes that there's a good investment for you or if you needed some money.

Yes 10months ago when op started this thread if op keep 12 bitcoin to his wallet for sure op will happy and earn a lot of money. But I don't think if OP kept his bitcoin because in 10 months they have many possible to happen like OP play gambling and addicted and all his bitcoin loss , when op invest hyip/ ponzi/ investment site all bitcoin also loss. Most altcoins come and go, one of the biggest newbie mistake is to think of altcoins as you think of bitcoin, you must always be ready to dump your coins if it comes to that since you never know when the price is going to go down.

You owning a bitcoin is itself a form of investment.
Bitcoin's value in the past few years(specially past couple of years has risen exponentially.
I.e the growth rate graph of bitcoin is kind of uniform exponential graph.
This can be seen - as 9 - 10 months back around may- June the price  of bitcoin was around 500$ and now it's around 1100$.
Thus ,if you just want to invest your money somewhere just in the sake of investing.
Then don't do so because bitcoin is itself an investment and may yield you a lot of profit.
If the rate of increase of cost continues in the same rate then I assume bitcoin's price may even reach 10000$ in the coming decade.
No share ,stock or property (there may be some exceptions) may yield you the same amt of profit as bitcoin may do.

I will not risk trading in Yobit as they have all the  coins in the world and anyone can create a coin and list in that exchange.I started out in yobit and lost a lot of money as no one knows how and why the coin is moving and who is pumping the coin and most of the traders in yobit usually become the bag holders rather than making some profit.
