Because of the great volatility in the bitcoin price, at this moment I would prefer to set my target in dollars, otherwise if I preferred to set my target in bitcoins I would be in permanent risk of losing a great proportion of my money overnight and my retirement would be in continuous stress.

I would imagine the majority of people here on this site is still fairly young... So why would you want to retire? I guess to me, working is something I look forward to everyday and is a reason for me to keep on going with life, besides family and other things such as hobbies.

Idk, it's always a goal for me to be rich and enjoy my time here on earth... But not retire.

Well it depends on your job or way of earning money.

My job is not horrible but if I could afford to quit I would.

It doesn't mean I wouldn't do anything, although there is nothing wrong with that (reading books, travelling, being on a beach everyday, and other things), but the only "job" that I would really consider is investing in things, so I'd need more money for that. Investing in real estate, investing in promising start ups, that sort of thing.

How many bitcoins you would must have that you can go to retire?

What would be your point, that you would say i go and quite my real life job and i dont trade anymore?
100 btc is enough to retire because you can start your own business that you can live as boss in your business..
100 btc is more valuable in the future so i think even 50 btc amoun can help you to start your own business.
I think the time to retire is not the time to create a business? retirement time is the time that you can enjoy after you work and make business at a young age. old time is the time to enjoy all thy hesitant results. so I think make a business before you retire and collect as many bitcoin dude

I also think that retiring is not that much necessary, especially when maybe most of you guys here are still young.
Of course, my money aim is to live on, to move on with what I can earn and working is one of the reason I still alive on this planet so why should I think of retiring.

If you were a waste collector and earned a few millions at the lottery, wouldn't you retire ? We don't all have glamorous jobs.

Four million dollars would be enough for one to live off a luxury life.

$700k for a great house to spend all your life in, $200k for a great supercar, $3M for ALL the other spendings.

$3M for all the other spendings would be like living for 100 years with a $2500 monthly salary. This would be more than enough.

With the rest of $100k, I'd buy gold and try to make more out of it. If I would loose, I wouldn't buy more ever. After making about $10k profit off it, I'd save the $100k and risk only the profit because I'd have nothing to loose.

If you own an expensive house and car (actually 700000$ is not that expensive depending on the place) then you can't live with 2500$ a month. The car alone will cost you more than that !

I don't think I will ever stop to gamble with bitcoins, its something I like. But if I make couple million's with help from btc I would quit my regular job and I would just gamble with money I have while I enjoy in ky retirement. Nothing better can happen for me, cause in my country with current laws I doubt I will ever get to pension. If I don't make some money by myself, I will need to work until the end of my life.
Maybe cause of that fact I have a lot of faith in bitcoins, maybe they can push me up.

Well with the current value of bitcoin, i would be able to retire owning something like 300-500btc would be enought to retire, but with such portfolio i would keep working atleast maybe more 5 years to get a car with those money.

Where do you live ? 500BTC is only enough to buy a 2 bedroom flat where I live.

I would probably move to a cheaper location if I retired, but you can't expect cheap locations to stay cheap forever, so you need investments that will follow the cost of living. At the moment I think I'd like to live in Morocco, Casablanca to be precise.

Where I live, 500BTC is already enough to live for a few years without working. And if you have investments that earn steady income, you can be sitting pretty all day and do not have to worry about anything for the rest of your life.

Same here, I will not retire based on the amount of bitcoins that I have.  But I keep on earning more to prepare for my retirement.  I am working and earning some bitcoins on every available time that I have.  And even if I retired, and bitcoin is still there I will still make my way to earn some bitcoins.  We are not certain where or on what status bitcoins will be on the next 10 or 20 years from now.

Its a bit dangerous if want to depend your retire fund on bitcoin, we dont know what will happen in the next 20 or 30 years, but for me 10.000BTC will be enough if i use the rate 600$ per bitcoin, and it exclude the home and car
If i have all of that i will retire and enjoy my life

I think he just wants to spend 500 BTC during his lifetime. In fact, I think if 500 BTC is used for a variety of investments such as trading, mining, hold bitcoin. I think the money will multiply, rather than just not doing anything. Because if it continues to use the money will soon run out. IMO

I think life is very short. You will not feel that at this time you're an adult and you will also learn that you will be getting old. so prepare it now dude
