New voting option added (to extend mining period): "Make 42 coins max (1:3 swap), 0.00000042 max PoW+PoS reward until reaching 42 coins".

i really think this will work

As you can see, the most people want back to the limit of 42 coins. In the case of 1:2 swap, the mining period will be short with low profitability, so I don't see a reason to add PoW.
But I don't want to reach the limit of 42 fast because I do not know how to motivate people to support the network by keeping nodes online after the end of mining. Maybe we should increase the block time to 420 seconds/7 minutes, this will slow down the emission and also reduce the orphans rate?

1:3 swap, 1:4... 1:42 Smiley is not a good solution, in my opinion.
Even 1:2 swap is not very good for 42 coin reputation, further diluting can be considered as a scam by the crypto community.
The block time really can be increased, it doesn't matter a lot, as 42 coin is not a coin for everyday payments.

Edit: of course miners will vote to dilute the total supply as much as possible,
but to whom they are going to sell it finally? More coins will lead to lower prices, so nothing to gain.

+bump
no on swap / better snap shot, and just slide the decimal

example:
78 coins in old 42chain, become 0.078 on new chain; change reward to 0.00000042
fork to AuxPow / mergemining; when total coins hits 42 then it is TX fee only, like iXc is now, you'll have the hash still because Merged Wink

if there is a coin swap of this coin, it will get delisted from cryptopia the only place it is traded at and then will have to put on the the vote list there and be voted on to get readded or someone would have spend a lot to get it auto added there and at yobit

why i stress taking the time to:
1. find the new algo
2. find dev team
3. get the total costs
4. set timeline

IF it ain't broken, don't fix it ... 42 is a functioning/trading network ... so be sure to be sure to be sure ... before anything goes hardforking Wink

Repeat.  Do nothing is the best, until the best is clearly known.

Hence suggest 'snap shot' for share in new 42_part_2 chain;
Hence 2 42s;

Could even be something crazy;
Like a smart contract chain that locks up old 42s;
So the new 42 = eth (less the hack features);

Hope this 0.42 premine brought hendo joy. Anyway life of 42coin goes on but hendo is not amymore a part of it - i think all agree with me! (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=399658.msg7021190#msg7021190) :Note locked thread can't quote the normal way:

They all currently offline, except the last one. But if everyone will open the port#24242, we will have a strong network with more than 30 active nodes...

I've got 3 now... but seems, it's not the same chain as cryptopia

You can experience a problem with connections/tx processing due to lack of nodes (only 1 of 16 clients keeps open port #24242... Sad)
New wallet on new code base under development (facultatively, due to lack of time).

According to the voting (total 20 votes) we have 2 leaders, option #2: "Make 42 coins max (1:2 swap), 0.00000042 max PoS reward until reaching 42 coins" (7 votes) and option#4: "Leave all as it is" (6 votes). To clarify the situation, please submit your vote again (in round 2).

Any news? New wallet or website?

New wallet on a modern codebase is almost finished, but its availability will depend on the voting results. At the moment I don't have much time because of my busy in real life and no one else is involved in the development process. So if someone has an opportunity to help with any kind of development - welcome to the team!

This is a well known problem with all 42 clients (included the latest v. 8.0.0, compiled by soopy452000). It is appear when your client established connections with clients from alien chains ("subver" : Satoshi:0.6.3, Satoshi:0.8.5, DigitalcoinV3.0:3.0.1, WorldcoinFoundation:0.8.6.2...), you can avoid such problem by blocking  their ports (9538, 9556, 9065, 9336, 9333, 7999, 11081, 28753, 9526, 19904, 9771). Will be fixed in client on a new codebase.
I had the same problem with LiteBar. I changed the subver to LiteBar(plus versoin info) and added to code to check incoming clients, and drop them if they didn't have 'LiteBar' in their subver.
The only drawback is that older LiteBar clients get dropped also - but it was a mandatory update  Wink

Lol 42 coin.. what's the purpose of reviving obsolete tech?  It's like your trying to sell me an apple computer from the 90s. Fortunate for me, the newer apples are cheaper and 10000X better... IDK, maybe I'm missing something here
