I doubt that there is any other cryptocurrency or altcoin that can supersede the bitcoin. At least not for the next 5-10 years. Of course there are many rising competitors like ripple and litecoin. The newest addition to the list of its competitors is Ethereum. Ethereum has launched its own cryptocurrency called Ether that showed an exceptional growth last year making it the 2nd most popular cryptocurrency of 2016. And for all one knows, Ether is the only currency right now that owns a slight possibility to outpass the bitcoin in coming years. The biggest accomplishment of Ethereum perhaps is the support from some leading organizations like Microsoft and IBM. Microsoft’s US based financial team is now working with Ethereum to offer blockchain as a service to various business firms and financial institutions.

If bitcoin prices continue to rise (percentage), for example when the price of $ 12k marketcap bitcoin is only about 33% but when the $ 8200 marketcap price reaches 44% and with this fact it seems to be difficult for any coin to replace bitcoin.

Realistically talking, btc as of now is being at the top list among other cryptocurrencies but still it has ups and downs. It may be possible that other digital currency replace btc or it is also possible that other cryptocurrency sits beside the top list with btc.
Being the basis of other cryptocurrencies it'll be very difficult for them to dethrone BTC to where it is now and what it already achieved. Still no one can tell what will happen in the future.

I think that will not happen so fast. Bitcoin is the leading figure in crypto world and most people who hear about cryptocurrencies first hear the name bitcoin. The day on which bitcoin is no longer number one will change everything in the crypto world. But until then a lot of time will pass.

bitcoin is not something that you can just replace that easily. it is still growing and getting better over time. so although nobody knows about the future i can tell you that in the future bitcoin will exist if there is anything like bitcoin it will only become second to bitcoin and never even get on top of it.

Does it make sense to believe that Bitcoin could one day be replaced by another cryptocurrency, that is, a cryptocurrency that really does make Bitcoin obsolete?
I still doubt the bitcoin will be replaced with another coin, bitcoin is the strongest and the first coin appears, I think the bitcoin will remain the first and altcoin will be the second.

I think this is quite a diplomatic question what you are asking because I think if bitcoin is able to keep up with the transaction times and transactions costs then obviously it is going to survive. But if it is unable to meet up with its scaling issues then obviously people will begin to move towards other alternatives which are either cheaper or faster. But if you say in terms on investment then obviously other crypto currencies are surely going to take it over as they provide a better scope for increase than bitcoin.

There's also a possibility that bitcoin can be replaced by another cryptocurrency like ethereum. Ethereum has the second to the highest value in the crypto world and most of the ICOs tokens are only compatible with ethereum. As of now, it is really difficult to say if bitcoin's end is near. We also have to consider that bitcoin has many supporters than any other crypto currency.

Nothing is impossible a world full of technology like the one we live in, but the main issue has to do with time. As par the current developments, i dont see any other cryptocurrency actually replacing bitcoin. May be that coin has to be extraordinary before we can begin to consider it.

For now, I think it is hard for it to be replaced. It is the top of mind cryptocurrency to the people and it is gaining popularity and awareness at a rapid rate. I think it will still continue especially now that more people like to invest in BTC.

I think it will happen at any time. Bitcoin is too old and it is possible that a new altcoin may replace the bitcoin site

No one can predict what. It is possible that bitcoin will be replaced by an altcoin or a new electronic form and more valuable than bitcoin

I think that is impossible. bitcoin took 9 years to build itself and its value. The altcoin will never be able to replace the bitcoin

Does it make sense to believe that Bitcoin could one day be replaced by another cryptocurrency, that is, a cryptocurrency that really does make Bitcoin obsolete?
After the genesis of Bitcoin in 2009, several currencies have popped up with different concept, much better technology, speed and privacy. But these hundred of currencies have just managed to lower btc dominance from 100% to 83%. Each year some currency becomes famous, people say they that it will be next Bitcoin. Still Bitcoin dominance isn't affected. Take example of Ethereum, much better than Bitcoin technology. But still it's very small in front of Bitcoin. There are high chances that Bitcoin gets replacement, if some continued attacks start on Bitcoin.
