Is this connected to any exist gamers or you intend to build your community from scratch?  Huh

I am not sure if you are adressing me or the whole community?

I am also new here and what I do currently is:
* analyzing the ChessCoin project: the software, the community and other aspects
* see e.g. roadmap draft: https://github.com/chess-fan/MCT/issues/6

This will tell me how much work there is to be done here.

From what I quickly skimmed in the past threads, there was once some betting done on championships, but nothing else with chess communities.

The last 18 months showed that the opportunity was not used, and lost and the image of this project got more bad than good. At first when I looked at this project, I thought: "As usual, just a pump&dump coin" :-(

I'm visioning of a wallet where we can play chess, join tournament, earn rating and title online. An organization of chess players different from FIDE. Let us make our own organization with chesscoin as our currency. I just can't move what I have in mind. I also need a team, a community, and funding to do so.
Who's with me? Let's organize...

my chesscoin address: CQZpf5uwVssL2hWHeDTyvHCcYQx3UXC6Gf

Thanks for your feedback :-)

I have created 2 tasks from your thoughts:
* add more features to wallet (play chess, ...) https://github.com/chess-fan/MCT/issues/8
  * see my comment there
* make an organization: https://github.com/chess-fan/MCT/issues/7

I don't have any chesscoin at all but I'm a chess player as well as a chairman of a local chess club here in my community. I knew what a player needs. FIDE Arena is too expensive to play. Chess.com will not give you title and no tournament with prizes. Both sites don't have any crypto integration in their sites. Chesscoin is an opportunity to make a global chess association of online players. Perhaps could even give world championship through income of chesscoin.

Hi,

I have added one of your ideas to this task:
* make an organization: https://github.com/chess-fan/MCT/issues/7

> I'm a chess player as well as a chairman of a local chess club here in my community.

I am also a longterm chess player, that is why this coin tempted me.
I still analyze this project since the last days, and need to come to a result list on which place to tackle first here (software, community, ...).

I am not sure if I understand you(r question)?

My task list is a step to bring order into this chaos (and make a prio list at the end).
* Otherwise: your and other people's ideas will just disappear in this thread :-(
People can reply to the tasks specifically and we can work then something out, assign people, ...

Currently where you can "earn something" is:
* by running the wallet and you get coins via the PoS mechanism.

Everything else: is just a hope, promise. Nothing more.

What we now make out of this all is what will bring "profit", and hopefully also fun, later on.

I am one of it's early adopter and early promoter of chesscoin and have participated in at least three bounty campaign, I've message Isolani about relaunching chesscoin but there's no answer yet wallet is still good so is the staking and the volume anyone here who can compile a wallet let's see if I can come out with a new site and talk to one who can create a chess apps for the community I need more time since I am also in on other bounty anyone who can contribute just do your share

Hi,

> I've message Isolani about relaunching chesscoin but there's no answer yet

Yeah, from what I skimmed in the past threads he is not so active anymore :-(

One goal of my current analysis is (not only software analysis):
* to identify people with skills, so we can assign then tasks: https://github.com/chess-fan/MCT/issues

Problem is there's no funding... If I'm just the holder of that 7M chesscoin I'll spend it all for making the dreamed playing website. I know later I'll gain.

Well, I have no clue for what those 64% premined CHESS coins were actually used
* I only remember vaguely, from my backreading, an Android app was planned, but the guy did not finish. Did he actually get some coins for not doing anything?

I must say without funding my motivation will also sink:
* but: there is a nice angel who donated to me already. I guess he saw - correctly - what I can contribute here.

As said, my current status is:
* analyze the project (software, community, ...) to see where are its good and bad points.

Anyways, people should ask themselves if the coins they hold currently are worth something or not.
And how much more worth it could be when some ideas are actually implemented, by motivating people with some of those coins they have ;-)

Wooowwwww what is going on here - so much was not the whole last year going on...  Cheesy

For me is now relevance:

- We need is a checkpoint this is very important... If we have a checkpoint, we can regularly do a bootstrap - in addition, we do a monthly backup of the blockchain for backup and download ?!

- We need a virus check - I've been following orders and landed in 2013 as well - so I would say this is the code base from 2013...
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1510517.msg18900923#msg18900923

Part of my security analysis shows that the code base is from 2013 (the github version of 2016 is just the upload time).
Anyways, be it 2013 or 2016, when I'd want to "test" something I take the freshest codebase of bitcoin itself and not some old software where security bugs are already known for :-(

The code base 2013 also explains why we need a chesscoin.conf to even build the network?

I downloaded the Blockchain with 40Mbit in two days and that without problems...

Best regards

> Wooowwwww what is going on here - so much was not the whole last year going on...  Cheesy

it seems, something good is happening :-)

> We need is a checkpoint this is very important...

yes
but since we have now the blockhashes project, at least attempts to manipulate past data will be detected:
https://github.com/chess-fan/blockhashes-of-ChessCoin

one of my tasks is to check if actually someone tampered with the blockchain already:
https://github.com/chess-fan/MCT/issues/4

> If we have a checkpoint, we can regularly do a bootstrap - in addition, we do a monthly backup of the blockchain for backup and download ?!

The bootstrap "creation" is independent from the checkpoint so-to-say, but could ofc also be coupled to the regular checkpoint mechanism.

from the link:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1510517.msg18900923#msg18900923
May 2017: "Please help Yobit: The Blockchain is on ~315000 we are already on ~531300: Please do not make any withdrawals / deposits on Yobit"

sounds to me as if YoBit was on a fork, can't tell more without having looked more into it though.

> I downloaded the Blockchain with 40Mbit in two days and that without problems...

Thx, added to: https://github.com/chess-fan/MCT/issues/1#issuecomment-350582394

> The code base 2013 also explains why we need a chesscoin.conf to even build the network?

who knows, we'd need to dig in the code :-)
the normal behaviour in newer software is, that the config file is created automatically, or at least a message pops up telling you to create the file with such and such content

Thank you!

I hope that would not be the case. That would be quite a negative signal from the community.

This tournament event is the first step to make more publicity for ChessCoin,
we are with this acquiring some knowledge (who supports this? is the community still alive? ...) how to proceed with the marketing plans from there on.

As I wrote:
* "The prize money are your donations that are sent to this address, until December 22:"
so it should be clear 1 day before the tournament starts if there is prizes or not.
In the worst case I'd donate something :-(

Reminder:
* I selected the 2 dates, but they are not fixed in stone, it could also be earlier dates, or later. My intention was that we should start with this event still in 2017.

Good news :-)

A sponsor just donated 15000 CHESS for the tournament
* see txid: 95243484fea80e94a1b19842d2ecafcaba80e150f6f313a07f30d3bc2ebb76de

THANK YOU!

I'll also mention this on the NEWS section:
* https://chess-coin.github.io/#news

---

Can someone tell me if I see this correct that it came from this account? (so I can add it on the sponsor section)
* CKJKNoCBoxgGxQv74LNj5DA8X91jtW7xzt

Reason is that the data from the block explorer seems strange.
Thx
