its so tough to judge its not like other surveys where you can take a small sample size and multiply it and come up with a pretty solid %. Its still such a new thing that we wont know for years. Maybe you could figure it out by country then combine all countries and try and estimate.

Bitcoin is decentralized and now that they widely adopted it's almost impossible to get the right number and you are all right, wallet is not the determining factor to get the data because every user can create as many wallet as they want.

It'd be pretty hard to accurately crunch the numbers to see the amount of users on a year to year basis. One can assume that it's gone up using common sense but I don't believe it would be possible to get an accurate percentage / statistic seeing as one person can have multiple addresses and multiple addresses being created for specific transactions etc etc

I would say that the amount of people that use Bitcoin probably numbers among 1-2 million total, and yes, we do have a long way to go.
The thing is Bitcoin, as it is right now, is still too technical for a lot of people, and a lot of the things we find obvious or easy simply aren't easy or simple to a majority of other people. I know it sounds dumb, but that's how it is.
My theory is assume that 25% of /r/bitcoin users also use this board, and assume this board is ~30%-45% representative of the total population of Bitcoin (e.i. user number multiplied by ~0.75 to account for multiple accounts) and then assume it counts for ~40% of the entire count of users, multiply the numbers and get your answer.
I also pulled that theory out of my ass so no guarantee is means shit.
may be 1-2 milions people use bitcoin even more than that but i can't mention exact figures

Maybe there are 10 millions people which are using bitcoin right now. In my country, where there is a law of bitcoin restriction, more than 100000 people are holding bitcoin for many purposes. And guess what, people are still having bitcoin although there is not any store accepting bitcoin

well we can only make a speculation , noone could calculate the exact number. there's too much things to do to make a research on this. and also there is super private feature in bitcoin that allows you to hide your bitcoin without noone noticed. this is how bitcoin run.

Of course we are under the million. My rough guess of monthly active users would be around 250 000 users.

We know that we only have 530320 adresses with 1 or more btc. Each adress may belong only to 1 bitcoiner, but each bitcoiner can posess more than 1 adress. Thus I assume that we have less than 500000 solid bitcoiners (with 1 btc or higher amount). The others we can throw away as immaterial

And I think it even proves that there are countless people using bitcoin at present, which means after a few more decades, bitcoin will be well-known in this planet

about 7 million We're over 10 million already worldwide. As we're in the end of 2016, I guess we'll get just a bit over 100k more new users until 2017.

Around 8 millions is my estimation. But yet this is just the guess. There is no relevant mechanism or survey that could get us the correct data about number of Bitcoin users. I caz see how this could be possible. Also I think that this number may vary from time to time because some new users are coming but also some are leaving the community.

As here in the forum we have 600000 people are registered here in the forum. Apart from that many people left from the forum. So we cannot speculate the number of people using bitcoins. with bitcoin, Users also became anonymous around here.

Im interested to know how many people are actually now involved in the bitcoin world, Is there anyway to find out a rough idea of the user base so that we can come to a conclusion on what kind of adoption we are currently at? It seems difficult to gauge since this forum alone has several duplicate accounts from the same people.
. /r/bitcoin has 180k subs to it so would it be safe to assume if we included all miners, users holders and whoever else that we are still at under 1 million users? If this is the case then we still have a long way to go.
Does anyone have any more accurate guesses or way to determine the market?
user of bitcoin from year to year always increase, and in this year greatly increasing rapidly.. i think in 2016 this more than 1 millions..

I don't have the exact numbers but I assume there is a lot. You can see it here in the website, I see that there are many users in this group. How much more on the outside web? We can even see that there are too many online merchants now that accepts bitcoin as a way of payment so, that means that there a lot of consumers there including me considers bitcoin as a mode of payment. With the benefits of Bitcoin, I'm sure that it will dominate the entire world.

there is never going to be any way of knowing the answer to this question. the only thing that you can do is making a very off the mark kind of guess based on some things you see on the blockchain. for example the number of transactions, possibly the big whales like the large wallets that hold lots of bitcoin and ask the services like coinbase about the number of users they have.
