It's really difficult to quantity the number of people cause it's just increasing and increasing, I feel anywhere between 5-8 million would be my guess, cause it's popularity has increased 10 fold. Every one is on it as they get more aware of its power. However to get a fix number is difficult if not impossible. May I know what specific use is this to you.

Im interested to know how many people are actually now involved in the bitcoin world, Is there anyway to find out a rough idea of the user base so that we can come to a conclusion on what kind of adoption we are currently at? It seems difficult to gauge since this forum alone has several duplicate accounts from the same people.
. /r/bitcoin has 180k subs to it so would it be safe to assume if we included all miners, users holders and whoever else that we are still at under 1 million users? If this is the case then we still have a long way to go.
Does anyone have any more accurate guesses or way to determine the market?
It will always be a wild guess and the exact figure will never be known. Yeah, bitcoin price prediction as well the user prediction can just be guessed, making exact number is impossible. Several threads have been running based upon the user profile count. I believe these number is increasing gradually. By the time of next halving we can expect the users to get increase to at least a 10% growth.

Let’s talk about considering the percentage of world population. I am sure the percentage of bitcoin users is less than even 0.50% people around the world and rest 99.50% still using cash / fiat (and some in 0.50% too) so we have a long way to go towards the concept of money 2.0. Bitcoin will be one of the major payment solution in next few years but still it might take a decade or two for bitcoin to become a truly global currency.

I think it is no way to got the actual number of how many people using or holding bitcoin, because there are no indicators to count, lots of the users are hidden and there is probability that one user create multiple wallets, so we really can't count it, and i agree that bitcoin user is still just a small percentage of world populations

I respect your opinion with the number of users as your estimate, but I would like to correct something. It's not called customers but as a users, it's not a business that one is operating, it's decentralize so we all own bitcoin.

It is impossible to determine the users of bitcoin in 2016 because we can't control the people to use it. There's a billion of people out there using internet. Anytime they want to access is very possible if they have internet connection. Bitcoin becomes popular all over the world.

There is a lot of people that uses bitcoin in the world and probably it is hard to really know how many of them use or hold bitcoin, but my guess is that there is a larger amount that are holding bitcoin and that what the price of bitcoin today reflects and these people hold the bitcoin because they want to get more out of it they want the price to go even higher so there will be always demand on it.

I think so many bitcoin users who hold their bitcoin since the beginning of 2016, especially at a time like this. bitcoin rise fairly rapidly, making many bitcoin holders do not want to sell their bitcoin. maybe they hope that higher prices will soon come. I also hold bitcoin, and I'll probably sell when the price of bitcoin until the price of $ 900

I dont know the number of people in the world using Bitcoin or holding bitcoin because a census have not been carried out that I know of but I am sure of myself to hold some and majority of the members of this forum to hold a bit of the over 16 million Bitcoin already in circulation. But on the average, I am looking at say 10 million people would have been holding Bitcoin at this time...

Ok I will help answer your question with some statistics, there are about 15 million people involved or holding bitcoins as at now and I got this statistics from a reliable source. Here we go; 1. 7.4 million bitcoin addresses with a balance .0001 BTC ($.0861) 2. 4.5 million bitcoin addresses with a balance .001 BTC ($.861) 3. 2.8 million bitcoin addresses with a balance .01 BTC ($8.61) 4. 1.2 million bitcoin addresses with a balance 1 BTC ($86.10) 5. 446,301 bitcoin addresses with a balance 1 BTC ($861.00) 6. 131,709 bit coin addresses with a balance 10 BTC ($8,610) 7. 13,698 bitcoin addresses with a balance 100 BTC ($86,100) 8. 1,658 bitcoin addresses with a balance 1,000 BTC ($861,000). 9. 121 bitcoin addresses with a balance 10,000 BTC ($8,610,000). 10. 1 bitcoin address with a balance 100,000 BTC ($86,100,000) I hope this helps?

The realistic chance in knowing this fact is nil and so there is nothing more to tell, since the blockchain is open source you could get the statistics of the number of transactions but i dont know whether you could get the rest of the thing, may be if you look at the amount of coins mined then it might be your answer .

If this is true then only 0.14% of the population of the Earth using bitcoin, so still very small and it is difficult to make the bitcoin as official currency.

Not much. Big addresses usually belong to exchanges and mining farms, they can also be used by a number of people e.g. company addresses. Knowing how much is stored on the addresses doesn't tell anything about the number of people involved in a specific address, thus your statement about 15 million people holding bitcoins is most likely incorrect. I have a number of addresses with a balance of over 0.1 BTC each, think about how many such addresses can a professional trader have.

But for those who has a lot of bitcoins who are holding, coolcoinz is right because most of them belongs to companies/exchanges site that has merged and decided to have one holding wallet fund. Still the statistics that are coming out are just also speculations and there's no basis on how many did really hold for the whole year.
