How did you calculated that? The minimum security a spent bitcoin address gives you is 128 bits, how did you get to 80 bits?

A quantum computer can crack those 128 bits within few secs, so we don't count them. 160 bits require 2^80 invocations of RIPEMD-160.

Depends how big the quantum computer is. What do you mean by quantum computer, because there are different sizes of it.

Just like a 1940 computer cant be compared to a 2016 supercomputer.

Isnt that 32 bits = 160 -128 = 32. If it can crack the SHA256 layer in few secs, than all is left is 32 bits.


Then again current quantum computers are even slower than classic supercomputers.

It wouldn't really matter to me that much even if my private key is listed there because the chance of somebody getting access to my wallet is slimmer than winning the lottery. Unless someone actually try to make a bot out of it.

Not even with a bot, they are just creating addresses and "posting" them, you can do the same thing and you do it when you creatr an address or specially if you make a vanity, i know someone that has a doc of few gbs all from vanities and nothing

It all comes down to how much time someone wants to dedicate to this, but it should be nearly impossible for anyone to actually get your key if you don't publish it.

oh. it's 904625697166532776746648320380374280100293470930272690489102837043110636675 page with 128 addresses each btw. far surpasses the 1461501637330902918203684832716283019655932542976 mark. which means that there's a room for lots of address collision (which is even more improbable.).

I don't think is correct.  First there is no quantum computer in existence thats capable of running Shor's algorithm.
Second, I'm pretty sure the 160 bits of security is from only 1 or 2 rounds of the RIPEMD-160 hash.
The compression function within this has 80 rounds but that's irrelevant.

The bottom line is that unspent addresses have 160 bits of security and spent addresses have 128
bits of security.  Both are beyond brute force attacks even from any existing quantum computers.
