This guy has been doing this since awhile ago. Basically he is just using 1, 2, 3, 4,... to generate the private key then the public key. not sure if he is still doing it but on the other hand, he is also demonstrating that brute-forcing private key will get you nowhere.

They are real private keys. It's just there's so many pages of them (904625697166532776746648320380374280100293470930272690489102837043110636675 pages) that you are likely to grow old and die before you find the address you're looking for.

Even getting a random address with balance in them would be harder than winning the lottery. Except the ones on the front page which gets some bitcoins every now and then only to be moved away milliseconds after.

I'm not sure what the purpose of that site is, unless it's a joke. It isn't a database (that would be impossible), it's generating the pages in response to queries. So possibly an attempt at a scam, as in you look for your private key, and the holder of the list uses the generated pages to narrow down the possible addresses that have actually been used (there are 2^160 possible addresses, or 1,461,501,637,330,902,918,203,684,832,716,283,019,655,932,542,976). Since people have trouble putting that in perspective, there are only 2^63 grains of sand on all the beaches of Earth.

The total number of bitcoin addresses in use is so much smaller than the amount of possible addresses, that something like this is completely and utterly useless, and it would also be trivial to expand the number of possible addresses in the future. I laughed when I saw that website, cause I just know people who don't know the math are furiously putting page numbers hoping to find one . You'll likely witness the heat death of the universe before that happens.

I'm fairly confident he understands how Bitcoin works, but I've seen him before on this forum and he has made topics like this in the past. But the entire concept of the "directory" is literally starting from the first possible private key, and then working your way up from there. There are so many, and the chances of finding a key with Bitcoin actually in it is so low that is basically doesn't matter. Anyone could use the same method, but it would just be time consuming and have no (or a very minimal) reward.

There are way too many combinations for such a specific attack or even for one searching for a random wallet with coins in it. So yeah, your coins are safe unless someone gets direct access to that information through your pc.

If you actually did have the computational power to bruteforce a private key then you would be better just using that power to mine or crack something else.

It is ''practically'' impossible for someone to bruteforce their way into getting your private key. There are way too many combinations for such a specific attack or even for one searching for a random wallet with coins in it. So yeah, your coins are safe unless someone gets direct access to that information through your pc.

Private keys are not like passwords and bruteforce can only works on the password. The private key is safe unless you have written it on a piece of paper and that paper is stolen or lost.

Second, I'm pretty sure the 160 bits of security is from only 1 or 2 rounds of the RIPEMD-160 hash.
The compression function within this has 80 rounds but that's irrelevant.

The bottom line is that unspent addresses have 160 bits of security and spent addresses have 128
bits of security.  Both are beyond brute force attacks even from any existing quantum computers.

The space isn't wasted at all.  Either you put a '1' in there or a '0' in there.  Changing it from all zero to a mix of 1 and 0 doesn't 'waste' space.  If the space exists, it doesn't care if it is a 1 or a 0.

How did you calculated that? The minimum security a spent bitcoin address gives you is 128 bits, how did you get to 80 bits?

A quantum computer can crack those 128 bits within few secs, so we don't count them. 160 bits require 2^80 invocations of RIPEMD-160.

I don't think is correct.  First there is no quantum computer in existence thats capable of running Shor's algorithm.
Second, I'm pretty sure the 160 bits of security is from only 1 or 2 rounds of the RIPEMD-160 hash.

You seem a bit confused.   

There are no known quantum algorithms that can crack a hash function.  ECDSA has 128 bits of security
but if it was somehow completely cracked, spent addresses would have no security and unspent still
have 160 from RIPEMD-160.  You don't subtract one from the other, it doesnt work that way.

Grover's algo is that algorithm that can crack a hash function. Number of rounds doesn't matter, you can use millions of them.

Getting confused about what is going on - won't help you.  Your key is there no matter if you understand why.  You can feel 'good' because you searched and did not find it.  But that too won't cause your key to disappear from the site.  All keys are there whether you find it or not. 

'old generated keys'  Keys that are old and generated a long time ago are no less effective for use in stealing your bitcoin.  A very old key will still cause a HUGE bitcoin theft.  Just because that guy generated your key a long time ago, it doesn't protect your bitcoin today.

Really dude, I think private key is A private key in the context of Bitcoin is a secret number that allows bitcoins to be spent. Every Bitcoin wallet contains one or more private keys, which are saved in the wallet file. The private keys are mathematically related to all Bitcoin addresses generated for the wallet. read more here https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Private_key. Can you provide references the sense that you mentioned above?

The bot doesn't try to find the keys of a given address.  The bot takes a key and checks if there is any bitcoin on the address associated with the key.  If there is bitcoin, it takes the bitcoin. 

Those keys are 100% not fake.  They are all real keys.  This is certain and sure.

You should have known that private keys should NEVER be shared. Sharing them means the persons who see them can use them for anything at any time. It's basically the key to your wallet. Even with cold wallets you need to be very careful because you never know when someone hacked your PC and sees your private key before printing it out.

And as a Public Service Announcment, it should really be stressed that, should you look thru the list and recognize your key, it is imperative not to show this in any facial movement expressing shock/surprise/horror.
It's estimated that up to 30,000,000 laptop and phone cameras are now compromised, with autorun enabled when such topics are searched¹.
It's then a simple job for the hacker to cross reference focal point/page content/facial expression and be able to define which is your key on the list.

No, I don’t think there are my private keys published on that site (or anyone’s keys having bitcoin in it). It’s randomly generated keys (not even sure if those are working or not) but since it is possible to create bulk of addresses and private keys, it is likely to be the bunch of wallets with 0 balance in it. Now, since there are extreme possibilities of creating number of wallets, it is something that we shouldn’t worry about it.

PS : Even on the site footer, admin states "It took a lot of computing power to generate this database." so they keys or not hacked nor stolen but generated so you can't generate a key for already generated / existing address.

I don't feel uneasy because you could find my key specifically, this is very unlikely itself. I'm more afraid that you can just find one active key purely by luck. That seems to be your only chance, though I wouldn't bet that you will get it at all. That could be easily checked. Just put some dust in one these addresses and see if it is not gone in less than no time. If your satoshis are still there, then try searching the private key of that wallet. If the wallet is quickly emptied after that it basically means the OP is not only a fear-monger, which he seems to derive particular pleasure in, but also a sort of scammer or thief. After that everyone can safely give him negative trust.

lol!  Here we have a 'legendary' member who doesn't understand how a bitcoin private key works!!!  LOL.  Each page generates REAL keys.  The real key that unlocks all of your bitcoin.  EVERY bitcoin address possible is on that site.  Your address where you store millions of dollars and Satoshi's address where he stores BILLIONS of dollars - IS ON THAT WEBSITE.  The keys are real.  You can have the billions of dollars if you find which page the Satoshi address is on.

At first you claim that every Bitcoin address possible is on that site, and then you come to say that the keys are not stored anywhere. You should finally make up your mind about that. If you just wanted to say that any key can be generated by the site, and therefore they are all sort of there, I could just as well claim that all possible keys are already "stored" in the address generating algorithm itself. I appreciate your carefully thought out argument with submitted evidence.  However, putting your head in the sand wont change the fact that the keys are all there.  Just believing they are not doesn't somehow cause them to not be there.  That might work for Santa Clause and Jesus, but in cryptography it is a very bad strategy.

basically all you are doing is starting from 0 and working your way up to 2^160. of course you MAY hit the key that has satoshi's addresses in it.. but then you can also say you COULD hit that key just by smashing your keyboard and recording what pops out.


basically you could just use vanitygen and make a script to search for all addresses starting with 1 and recording the output and checking it to see if it has zero balance..
it would probably be faster than using this site.. specially if you had a fast video card.

I think it ia just made up random generated numbers the website is just calling private keys.

I was full of fear that Bitcoin is not safe . So I decided to check whether the given address  and private key are real??
I put one by one all address for one page list and I found that these are those temporary address which are used by blockchain and then results into dead .
So I realised it is nothing , only to make fool to the internet user .
