I'm all for a alternative to BMiner. Just as long as it is stable and runs correctly. I'm also willing to pay for it.

It’s a shame this went dead. Bitmain prolly paid this guy to stop or work for them. It’s funny some things discussed here were implemented in later firmware. Bitmain is as dirty as they come. Stab their own in back if it means they get ahead. BR

Did you do a Factory reset? Power down, press and hold in reset button while you turn on power, continue to hold button in for 5-sec then release it. Miner should load the embedded OEM firmware. Wait a few minutes then re-enter your pool and user info. Apply/save and let the miner do its hopefully normal startup.

Bitmain uses crappy cheap shit for the NVRAM and it doesn't survive being overwritten too many times. You may need to buy a new controller.

You can also unplug your miner, 1. hold the ip report button 2. plug in miner 3. hold ip report for 5 seconds
That has worked for me numerous times.

Has anyone thought to just pay off the programmers and make it gpl compliant by brute btc? Yes. To the best of my knowledge exactly ONE company has always followed the spirit of Open Source -- Canaan.io with their Avalons. Current github repos's and all (links on Canaan.io site), full blessings of -ck and Kano. That is one reason that I only buy Avalons now, reliability being the other. Oh, a readability tip for here: Use the Code function for displaying data. The formatting icon above is #Paste you text walls in there so they turn out like this snippet from an A741 [ 0.000000] Booting Linux on physical CPU 0x0 [ 0.000000] Linux version 4.4.14 (buildbot@build.canaan-creative.com) (gcc version 5.3.0 (OpenWrt GCC 5.3.0 50019) ) #1 SMP Sat Jun 3 05:48:25 UTC 2017 [ 0.000000] CPU: ARMv7 Processor [410fd034] revision 4 (ARMv7), cr=10c5383d [ 0.000000] CPU: PIPT / VIPT nonaliasing data cache, VIPT aliasing instruction cache [ 0.000000] Machine model: Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Rev 1.2 [ 0.000000] cma: Reserved 16 MiB at 0x3a000000 [ 0.000000] Memory policy: Data cache writealloc [ 0.000000] On node 0 totalpages: 241664 [ 0.000000] free_area_init_node: node 0, pgdat 80582ec0, node_mem_map b988e000 [ 0.000000] Normal zone: 1888 pages used for memmap [ 0.000000] Normal zone: 0 pages reserved [ 0.000000] Normal zone: 241664 pages, LIFO batch:31 [ 0.000000] [bcm2709_smp_init_cpus] enter (9480->f3003010) [ 0.000000] [bcm2709_smp_init_cpus] ncores=4 [ 0.000000] PERCPU: Embedded 12 pages/cpu @b984e000 s17984 r8192 d22976 u49152 [ 0.000000] pcpu-alloc: s17984 r8192 d22976 u49152 alloc=12*4096 [ 0.000000] pcpu-alloc: [0] 0 [0] 1 [0] 2 [0] 3 [ 0.000000] Built 1 zonelists in Zone order, mobility grouping on. Currently you can pay with only Sabrett Hotdogs and you only have one hour to pay.
But do they have to be dirty water Sabrett dogs? And does that make them like a fork of clean water steamed Sabretts?

You can try here but I don't think S9's can be downgraded anymore. If you manage to get it working post back here to let us know. https://github.com/Zwilla/cgminer

I'm curious one fact related to this project: now that we have nontrivial pools supporting ASICboost, does anyone know how to enable it on those miners? The rumors had it that it has only been tried on testnet pools and that there's some secret switch named "multi_version" or something similar.
