Well, I heard that 120k BTC has been stolen from the site, and make bitcoin prices down lately. but, I think bitcoin prices bounce back and will probably go back to the previous price, I think, if bitfinex not hacked, bitcoin prices may reach $ 750 - $ 800 in this month, but everything has happened

If they reopened and anyone was stupid enough to give them money then they deserve to lose it. I call that, "paying the dumbass tax". That's the tax you have to pay because you're a dumbass. The owners of Bitfinex must know their business is over. Then again, people paid the dumbass tax to ButterFuck Labs for mining equipment over a year after it was well known that they were thieves.

You would think that, and then you read about guys buying more ETH, or sending HashOcean additional monies. It's like children playing here, you can never trust the 'common sense' response to an issue. Lost money? Throw more money at it.

When I was a teenager I worked with him for a couple of years and asked him why he did that to certain people. He told me he had an eye for spotting people that could afford the "dumbass tax".

BTW: The real loss in all this is consumer confidence. The more these incidents happen the more people look at Bitcoin as a den of thieves. Well I guess all the equipment and time spent for maintenance and other things are all paid up that is why they already run. Plus a lot of profit. Of course you will never run yet when all of that is not paid enough.

Now, in 2016 and after the long anticipated (by me at least) so-called 'hack' of Bitfinished I'll suggest that those of us who are mainly whole and are still operational in this forum and under a stable persona tend to bin heavily into the last category.  Perhaps I'm wrong, but it's the sense I get.

I'll admit to paying the 'dumbass tax' in most of transactions I've made involving vehicles over my life.  When this has not been the case it has been mostly a result of dumb luck.  Bitcoin and other financial sphere decisions have made it so that I can accept this form of tax when I choose to and when I want to focus on other priories.

I guess that majority of the traders are somehow aware of the risks involved with centralized crypto exchanges. The irony in these repetitive situations is that with a tiny small fraction of the stolen money community can crowdfund  decent decentralized exchange. Maybe "hacker" will do it.

This issue of cryptocurrenxy entities being 'hacked ' is becoming common. There is a lot to be desired about the 'hacking'than meets the eye. There seems to be a cartel that is out to fleece people of their coins. This means that if you want to get rich, just start an exchange or a gambling site and people will accumulate their coins there. Once enough has been accumulates, you stage-manage hacking and get all the coins for yourself.

Remember gox and cryptsy? They had security breach as well and were slowly going bankrupt until they went public. This is why I never fully trust hot wallets from exchangers. I would always transfer them to a desktop or a hardware wallet everytime I'm done using it.

i do not see any link where hacker moved the balance and the site didn't give it too. it states that maybe the funds are not stolen they has steel it

I haven't done much research into it, but I would imagine a decentralized exchange not being able to operate fiat to crypto (and reverse) trades etc.

I haven't done much research into it, but I would imagine a decentralized exchange not being able to operate fiat to crypto (and reverse) trades etc.

Problem with decentralized exchanges is you to get multiple coins on the same chain, you need to temp. swap for a placeholder asset which means you're trusting a central authority to exchange you back the real coins

well it was made smoothly i guess though i hope that the hacker is going to be compromised, in my opinion he will sooner or later have to return all the bitcoins

Well hackers dont work for free would be good to call anonymous group to investigate those deeply, atleast we would know where the bitcoins went,and are, makes no sense a huge attack and no information about the problem, besides we lost 120k bitcoins thats all, have a nice weekend.

And need to underline the police just wanna to take care of the criminal is regulated on the constitution maybe it's wrong if you trying to report on the police not in the cyber crime section but the ending in my opinions is always same, will useless.

BTC  has to solve its scaling issues  right now exchanges are how BTC becomes liquid  since it can't  do more then 700,000 transactions on a perfect day on the blockchain.

Allowing  exchanges to 'Steal' BTC  or hackers to 'Steal'  BTC over and over and over and over and over and over  is not going to work.

I suffered no loss with the ETC_ETH fork
I suffered a 240 of 720 usd loss with   the bitfinex hack.

ETH developers  saved the day
BTC developers will allow the coins to be mixed away  and won't increase the transaction cap in effect on BTC  which is forcing off chain trades with crooked or incompetent  exchanges.


Not good  for a heavy hitter with big cash.

I believe that the PR guy has said that US customer will be able to withdraw them. I suspect that this will allow for OTC trading of them and possibly trading of them on other exchanges.
