This is quoted from Discord. Hopefully this is ok to post. I felt that this was very good information. The user smellycouch asked the questions and LukeChilds answered. @smellycouch All good questions.
How fast is hyperdex compared to barterdex? The HyperDEX GUI and BarterDEX GUI are purely GUI implementations over the marketmaker daemon. They both use the same underlying library to interface with the BarterDEX network. So actual real performance should be the same. However HyperDEX communicates in a much more optimised way which should result in updates from marketmaker being rendered much quicker (almost realtime) compared to BarterDEX GUI.
How long does it take to complete a trade with btc? Currently, while we're in alpha it's hardcoded to require 1 conf for each tx on each chain. There are 5 steps to the atomic swap protocol from Alices perspective so it's roughly (alicecoin blocktime * 2) + (bobcoin blocktime * 3). So if Alice coin is BTC (10 min blocktime) and Bob coin is KMD (1 min block time) you should expect the entire trade to take around 23 minutes.
Obviously 1 conf for all coins regardless fo hashrate is not very secure, it just makes testing easier while we're in alpha. We will change these to more sensible values and allow users to override them with their own in the future.
We are also looking into implementing secure 0-conf swaps which will allow you to make any trade regardless of blocktime in a matter of seconds. 0-conf is secured by requiring both parties lock up collateral which will be confiscated in the event anything goes wrong.

The caveat to that is that HyperDEX uses electrum wallets, so if you have slow internet it's markedly slower than BarterDEX-GUI with native wallets.

Using barterDEX is not for a novice like me. If ever there are ICOs on komodo platform, it is really advantage to have a dico wallet rather using barterDEX like EQL did as coin offering interface. From my experience, my kmd did not execute the atomic swap via barterDEX to turn it into equivalent EQL during the its ICO.

I agree, I believe as time goes by, the design will be more user friendly and intuitive as well as improved market maker. Like IBM came up with smartphone in 1995, but Apple made it big because of their intuitive design. Also KMD is welcoming any third party designer to design a better DEX interface. I think there is a bounty for that.

Is someone running Agama wallet under Ubuntu (18.04)? I tried to run the app on my second machine. It aborted and showed the following error message: [5615:0725/152746.891488:FATAL:v8_initializer.cc(247)] Couldn't mmap v8 natives data file, status code is 1
Google did not give me a clear indication what is wrong. Any idea? Isn't it possible to provide a .deb or .rpm file for linux users too? Or better an AppImage.

At some point, people could stop approaching Barter DEX (an "auction-style" trading system) as though it were a CEX (a centralized ledger system), stop expecting it to be/do something that it isn't, take the time to learn how the DEX works (just like they took the time to learn how a CEX works), and learn how this entirely new system is something entirely new.

https://komodoplatform.com/whats-merkle-tree/Do I understand this correctly? Transactions and blocks once hashed create the merkle root. These collectively for one chain are called a merkle tree. When several chains (merkel trees) are together it's a merkel forest?

The leaves of the MoMoM are made up of the roots of MoM whose leaves are made up of the merkle root of transactions in a block.

The project is really worth attention, waiting for its great future. And the fact that the price is low for someone, I think you need to buy coins, now a very good price for investment.

Well when during last year that got into Komodo , it was much lower like 33 cents or something. I hodl it bigtime eventhough it went as high as $14 I did not sell it because of KMD ecosystem potentials.

To be fair, that price movement was typical of most projects during that time though, that are still surviving. KMD is interesting on many layers by itself though.

Komodo is very interesting and it's technology is of advanced level. Thanks to developers of KMD. Another plus is that, Komodo is resilient and very strong. If we just continue to hodl in perfect timing, we will benefit from it soon.
