I got a support ticket today from a user who had decided not to verify his email address upon signing up. That user then decided to make some deposits(which is fine) and play. Now this user tried making some withdraws.
In order to process a WD you will get an email sent to the email address upon which you signed up for the site. You will need to confirm that email and your WD is processed. Its a simple process. Its there to protect you and your account. If you didnt make the WD request you disregard the email and your money is safe.
This user has somehow lost access to the email account and is asking us to process his WD and change his email address. We do not do that for any user for security reasons. If he gets access back to his email address and confirms his WD email, his WD will be processed. If not it will not. We are not trying to keep his bitcoin from him, we are following our policy procedure.
I just wanted to make this post so that any future users are aware of how it works. Your email address is locked to your account forever. If you cannot access your email for whatever reason, then make a new account with a new email address. Do not ask us to change your email for you.
Please dont excuse our security measures as a way to call us a shady casino. We have not and will not ever have a problem processing WD.
Lots of people are agreeing with you it seems.
I'd say the problem is a bit more complicated than what you all say though. I wouldn't call you a shady casino, but the first thing is that it's important to state the necessity of email confirmation for WD, otherwise that's not normal to require it afterwards, even if you asked the user to confirm his mail.
Sometimes when I want to try a website I use a temporary mail, although I think it's stupid to use a temporary mail in anything money related, it's still important to clearly state the need you'll have of the mail.
And second is that you could provide a second solution. I completely understand your security reasons and i wouldn't feel safe putting money on a website giving away the balance of accounts to anyone. But having a second hand solution is still possible and can be important.
I'll take the example of BTC-e platform exchange because I had trouble getting back my access code for personal reasons. They have a process so you can get back your account, it's long (15 days) and you have to provide multiple proofs but it's possible, and I think it's important.
Anyway, better safe than sorry so it's sure I prefer a casino TOO strict than not enough xD
But maybe think about an escape route guys
Well, I do agree with you.
But you must understand that if we won't do that, some people will come back and ask us "where is my funds", and " you supposed to protect my funds from crime", and we won't have an answer for that and we won't be able to solve it us the funds were withdrawn from his account.
I can also agree that if someone has his computer hijacked and lose his password it's now our fault that he got his funds lost, but we HAVE to provide our users extra security and confidence while using our site, and if you know sites that are not protecting their users from password/account theft, then you shouldn't bet in there as it is not secure and it's a risk to your funds.
The email confirmation saves a lot of problems and also protects the user, and it's not like that if someone lost the access to his mail his funds are lost forever, we don't like to keep funds at our site, if you can prove the ownership of your account by signing a message with your deposit address or something like that, then we will be more then happy to release the funds for you.
Our main priority thing is to have our user's funds safe, and then to have the site easy to use, as we don't need any user to lose his funds due to a theft of his account or his password, we want to protect you from that.
Hopefully you can understand, Liad.
