It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

Hi what mining programs can use to mine and the configs? I'm trying mining for almost an hour and nothing!

Any BTC mining software should be able to mine any SHA256 coin like Bytecoin, or PPC,TRC,FRC......

One just has to make sure that the RPC port of the coin Daemon and the port your mining software is trying to connect to is the same.

To be sure just add a:

Code:
rpcport=xxxx

to your bytecoin.conf (or any coins' conf file) with xxxx being whatever port you want (stick above 1024, and make it easy like 2222 or 3333 ......etc)

Make sure and set your mining software to use the same port and you should be ready to go.

At minimum your conf file needs:
Code:
server=1
rpcuser=<username>
rpcpassword=<password>

If you are running the daemon on a separate computer from your miner add:
Code:
rpcallowip=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
In a typical home setting you would use something like 192.168.1.*  . that will allow all hosts from 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.1.254 to use the daemon.

So I am guessing this is still SHA256 hash alg?

If so, uber fail on Maria's part.

ASICs will destroy this chain.
Because ASICs are totally going to stop mining BTC and mine some useless coin..

BTW, ASIC-proof is a bad thing.

ASICs don't have to stop mining BTC, they can merge-mine both. If a certain pool operator sees this as a threat to Bitcoin users, he can 51% attack it indefinitely at virtually no cost.

You can play ball with the big boys and enjoy free security externalitites, or you can compete independently with a different hash algorithm. Namecoin does the former, Litecoin does the latter, and Coiledcoin did neither.

Byte the hand that feeds you...

Might I recommend some slogans?

ByteCoin! Because RUC was a great, innovative idea...forking the Bitcoin repo and just changing the name?! BRILLIANT!

ByteCoin! Missed out on the "good ole days" of Bitcoin? Too cheap to buy a real mining rig? Haven't bothered to learn your history lessons about the altchains that didn't make it big? Fear not - this is the currency for you!

ByteCoin! The latest cryptocurrency backed only by mindless hype and naive speculation!

ByteCoin! See how much you can mine before the chain gets 51% attacked and killed off!

ByteCoin! All the cool kids are "creating" their own "unique" cryptocurrency with "significant improvements" over the altchains with any real value, and you should back this one for no discernible reason!

But seriously now: This is just RUC with a new name and a whole fresh wave of sheeple working themselves into a mindless circlejerk over it. Once the hype dies, so will this "new" coin. Enjoy it while it lasts, I guess...

I'm buying 21,000 BTE for 0.1 BTC

That looks reasonable, me too.

And we already have a market price!

that's not a market price. thats BID.
you need an ASK to even try to guess the market price ,
and market price is what last trade taken place at(pizza), that would be 0,0001111 BTC/BTE or  9000 BTE/BTC for easier calc.

difficulty is 64 with 60% rejects, so mining now gives you 3.143 BTE a day per MH , comparing to LTC profitability thats a minting cost of  0,0107 usd
which makes actual price of 0,01198 usd very reasonable.

but you have to know, difficulty is 64 but blocks are found at high rate so this price is a steal!! difficulty will be 256 in no time.
that is a mintage cost of 0,043USD. but i think there will be no more 60% rejects at diff256 so lets say it will be around .02 usd and 5400 BTE/BTC.
thats of course if no one else starts mining.

so i will make a 540 BTE per 0.1BTC ASK offer. now you can see your 21000 is just a BID , not a market price

That's incredibly, incredibly funny. I never thought I would be a smart speculator

you hit your pizza price on the spot perfectly. LOL

Once this coin is worth something, I'm going to be filthy rich!

I will sell an ounce of silver to someone for 3,000 BTE.

Question:
Is this normal?

Yes, the quick new blocks are normal for now due to low diffculty compared to hash.

I would be more concerned about your GPU temps in combination with a low intensity of 1 (Using an intensity of 1 is most likely the reason for the low hash rates that are showing)

I would look at your hardware configuration and figure out how to get those temps down and increase your intensity setting.

Added:

For example, one of my rigs show up like this:

Code:
 cgminer version 2.11.2 - Started: [2013-04-02 12:03:54]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

 ST: 2  SS: 0  DW: 0  NB: 1  LW: 8  GF: 0  RF: 0  WU: 60.0
 Connected to cryptocoinmine.com diff 64 with LP as user xxxx
 Block: 07a09bd37d6eb7f1...  Diff:64  Started: [12:03:54]  Best share: 9
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 [P]ool management [G]PU management [S]ettings [D]isplay options [Q]uit
 GPU 0:  58.0C 3426RPM | 334.9M/1.468Gh/s | A:0 R:0 HW:0 U:0.00/m I: 5
 GPU 1:  46.5C 3137RPM | 304.2M/1.228Gh/s | A:0 R:0 HW:0 U:0.00/m I: 5
 GPU 2:  54.5C  65%    | 304.1M/1.197Gh/s | A:0 R:0 HW:0 U:0.00/m I: 5
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And that is a fresh start, not completely up to speed. The numbers are closer to  400 m/H per card when start up is stabilized.

Make sure your bytecoin.conf includes this line:
rpcallowip=*

also Diablo Miner is better for mining Bytecoin.
