so, i'm mining this coin because i am new to cryptocurrencies and i want to learn all there is to know about it. Solo mining should still be viable here right, because i want to experience what that is like.

I run 7 MH/s what are my chances to mine a coin?

I've been mining at 130 MH/s for 8 hours and only have gotten 2 blocks, so you do the math.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

So, this coin launched with difficulty 1 at the time most miners have 100+ MHashes? What a fail, LOL! Just don't come to me with "no-premine" stories.

Also where was the launch announcement, I saw nothing in this subforum about this.

I'm launching Gigabyte coin and giving people notice.

For being a huge troll, a liar, and starting ridiculous alt coins such as this one which will be worth exactly zero.  Basically.

There are a lot of trolls and liars. I suspect she got ban coz of launching Bytecoin. It's funny that NMC, LTC, NVC creators weren't banned. Well... she'll be a martyr...

I don't see why she would be banned for those reasons.  There's nothing she did to incite a banhammer.  Her profile doesn't say anything about being banned either; does such info not show up?

It's not that funny.  The other alts all at least attempted, even slightly, to innovate.   Bytecoin is a direct copy of Bitcoin, there is zero reason for it to exist (and I doubt it will for much longer).

I doubt this is why "she" was banned though, more to do with being a pathological liar (and has been for a good long time on these boards).

I think it might be to do with NMC, LTC, NVC having at least some unique elements to them, where as BTE is something you can create in about 30 minutes to an hour.

In fact its that easy that if we still have front page full of BTE posts at the end of the week, I might release BTF. The week after that BTG. I could not do that so easily at all with the other alt-currencies, in fact to be honest I would really struggle and end up releasing something very buggy, if it worked at all.

For the record my prediction and hope is both the new BTF, BTG fail miserably.

Has there been other altcoins that have been EXACTLY the same as Bitcoin? If not, it seems it does have some novelty factor to it xD

Lets not forget that every coin is a Bitcoin clone.  None of them are completely unique; most just have a parameter change or two, but the underlying code was already present.  This one just doesn't hide the fact that it's a rip-off.

I'm running an experimental p2pool here:

http://radon.gdries.nl:6327/

Username: your payout address
Password: 1

I don't know if it works right, but I'd like to see if it does. My miner finds some shares, but I didn't find any blocks yet. Give it a try if you like!

[edit]
There is some hash power! Looks like it will take a while before we find a block though...

Pool: 65222H/s Stale rate: 15.4% Expected time to block: 48.8 days
[/edit]

That sudden jolt of power you are feeling is my notebook throwing an impressive 26 Mhash at your pool.

Prepare to drown in coins....

anyway congratulation to Maria for successful launch. I checked your signature and it is real. Wow. Nobody believed, but seems you indeed may be 2nd bitcoin miner. Do you know Satoshi in person?

On a more serious note... here's what I am getting with CGminer... is something wrong?

I don't know... best you check over here if your address is mentioned in the stats:
http://radon.gdries.nl:6327/static/graphs.html?Day

If so, your miner is working for coin. I don't know cgminer so I have no idea if that output is normal. There are a large number of blocks being found in Bytecoin at the moment so if that message means "new block found", then it's probably normal.

A large amount of hashing power has just been added to the pool (power tripled over the last few minutes) and the fee calculation seems to be getting confused. I set the fee to 2%, but the fee I'm getting is sometimes much more. Perhaps it's better to relax the mining power a bit to keep the pool fees resonable?

I reset the fee to 1%, hopefully the calculation will normalize now.

how many BTE would you give me for 1LTC? (1LTC is worht 4usd in the moment)

lets recalculate

typical 1000mh/1100kh rig will make 11.004LTC or  1964.49 BTE .
unfortunately 50% of blocks are orphans , because of:
monstrous hashrate for 256 diff - 4000% [2000% effective] 30 sek blocks instead of 10 minutes

so we can say 1LTC mine cost is about 90BTE

of course its 4 times more value than just this morning,
but thats just nobody being able to calculate the 40 times hashrate will quickly pump the diff up.
hashrate is 4 time more, still at 4000%, so we can expect diff 1024 in no-time, but nobody is going to calculate that, so price should be at diff 256 level

fuck deeponion, fuck bitcoincash, all glory to one BITCOIN

i am thankful for these new coins. it means less processing power is mining litecoin. keep up the good work!

seriously.. a simple clone of bitcoin where someone greps and changes the word bitcoin to bytecoin?
not much thought or effort put into this alt.
