Everyone, feel free to inspect both executable and post here any suspicious code. Anyway, feel free to compile your own version based on the github code.

Can you answer my PM?
a simple "I have no idea" would be great.
Thank you.

Despite 65 Mhas/s I can't mine any coins, tried solo and pool mining.
Anyone selling 1000 BTE for BTC? PM me please.

I don't think this coin is useless.
It is exactly same as bitcoin, so i don't see reason why would it worth any less.  Cheesy

Even better, there are 12mil BTC and less than 1mil BTE. BTE ought to worth more. Cheesy

I'm a newcomer to bitcoin so setting up a bytecoin and a CPU miner was an interesting exercise! (Even if somewhat frustrating.)

However I'm not sure I'm going to get any with my measly 3-4 Mhash/s.

By the way, of course everybody realizes that if you download a random exe from a forum like this, there's a possibility that it looks for %APPDATA%/Bitcoin/wallet.dat and sends it somewhere?

Oh yeah... I have a hunch that this thread might be a good place to advertise my bitcoin pyramid link!

Put it in your sig please.

I have analyzed the exe file, and I have not observed it look for Bitcoin wallet.dat

In addition, I've analyzed the sourcecode and found no shenanigans.

I just mined my first 50 BTE!

So where are the software/instructions for solo mining?

The software is linked in the first post of this thread. As for instructions, it is just like solo mining bitcoins.

On windows you run the client in server mode by creating a bytecoin.conf file in your appdata folder.

Follow a guide for bitcoin solo mining.

Sounds kind of funny. Not willing to give specific instructions here? Looks like you're not prepared to promote Bytecoin to the point of helping others mine.  Hmmmm.......

http://maunderingcabal.blogspot.com/2013/02/bitcoin-mining-log-9-how-to-solo-mine.html

Here is a solo mining guide for bitcoin and altcoins, it should be trivial to apply the guide to Bytecoin.

Good luck!

I'm glad my guide has helped anyone Smiley

This is probably unrelated, but it is worth being extra cautious: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=165497.0  I always build altcoins from source after auditing the diffs from bitcoin, and never run them on the same hardware I use to manage BTC wallets.

There wasn't much difference in the source code with ByteCoin. I don't think it's related through, I've analyzed it and it doesn't try to access Bitcoin's wallet.dat.

At current diff of 1024, it will take you 19 hours on average to mine a block solo. You need more hashing capacity. Bytecoin's global hashrate already oscillates around 70-80 Ghash/s (avg of last hour).

difficulty 1024.  hashpower has not dropped yet. still way overhashed [next diff will be much higher at this rate]

cost of mining 1 BTE is now [not including reject orphan ratio]: 0.00079BTC ,128 BTE per .1BTC
which makes buying much much cheaper than mining. current market price of .15BTC per 1000BTE is super cheap. should be at least .79BTC ber 1000BTE not including incoming diff increase or high orphan blocks ratio.

calculations data:
typical 1000Mh/1100KH rig
[491.12 BTE day @0% rejects] vs [11LTC a day =0.383BTC ]

Also, when OP has 70 posts and says he never uses the wallet I have to wonder:

1. Is he telling the truth or attempting to scare people away from BTE?
2. If he is telling the truth and has little experience with the bitcoin client, who knows, maybe he did something wrong & doesn't realize it.

Can anyone address the seeming non-sequitur in the post topic? How is Bytecoin proof that Maria 2.0 was banned?

You are off by 1 order of magnitude. Cost of mining 1 BTE is .000076 BTC. It is cheaper to mine.
The next diff adjustment (should be 4096) will make the cost .000306 BTC, so it will be cheaper to buy.

Bytecoin isn't the proof, and that should really be read as:

"Maria 2.0 was banned (he/she can't post this him/herself). Here is the proof he/she is the oldest miner on these forums (because he/she can't post it him/herself). Also, now announcing Bytecoin!"

Ah, thank you for translating.

Can you also explain how a random tx and address proves that Maria 2.0 is the oldest forum member?

Quite new to this mining thing (LTC for the last 4 days) and just pointed my measly 370mh/s to Bytecoin.

Any idea how long it would take to get a block at the current difficulty since I'm solo mining right now?

Cheers!
