so is this a carbon copy of bitcoin or did they make changes?

Pretty much just a carbon copy Obviously address prefix changes, etc, but nothing major was changed awesome i want some then! i have for a while seen this as the most practical solution to bitcoins scalability problem. 8aqJh63KbzJMJMKbM4T76GAeQN5XiFS5Cc

Created a P2Pool (modified by Gerco) mining server for the faucet 5% fee on pool, half of it goes to the faucet's funds. http://bytecoin.us.to:6327Username: Payout Address Password: 1 Awesome, Got 55MH/s so far, only 922.4 days until we find a block! EDIT: Currently 255MH/s, improving quite a lot EDIT: 1.7GH/s, I'm hoping that the rate keeps going up

Thanks I hope this catches on, because it lets people donate to the faucet (which has the potential to increase the value of BTE (e.g the more people have the coins, the more people use the coins)) without actually getting any less profit than a regular pool

idk if bytecoin will take off but there is a reasonable chance that a series of carbon copies of bitcoin will be used to solve the scalability problem and it would appear that bytecoin is the first in line. I think its a hell of a long shot but a good bet if you are into lottery ticket type investments =)

anyone have even a vague idea how long i should expect it to take to mine a block at 12.8 mhash/s. Also ive never mined before is 12.8mhash/s really bad? What kind of performance do you guys get out of a single mid range gpu?

I pushed an update to github that should reenable peer discovery via irc on p2pool nodes (re-added the irc channel name). Would other pool operators please pull this code so we can all work together?
You need to allow the node to receive connections on TCP port 16333 for the peer2peer network to work.

Charlie Kelly: I'm pleading the 5th. The Attorney: I would advise you do that. Charlie Kelly: I'll take that advice under cooperation, alright? Now, let's say you and I go toe-to-toe on bird law and see who comes out the victor? The Attorney: You know, I don't think I'm going to do anything close to that and I can clearly see you know nothing about the law. 19GpqFsNGP8jS941YYZZjmCSrHwvX3QjiC

Why not roll in some changes to tackle a few issues bitcoin is currently facing? And what's to stop each user on this forum from just creating their own coin and flooding the world with hundreds of copycat branches?

Why not roll in some changes to tackle a few issues bitcoin is currently facing? And what's to stop each user on this forum from just creating their own coin and flooding the world with hundreds of copycat branches? The fact that everyone would have to use a thousand different clients to accept Stevecoins and Billcoins and Joecoins. It's not such a big deal right now, as you could probably count all the altcoins on both hands, but after a certain point in time, altcoins won't gain traction because the top, say, 10 altcoins, are already good enough, and the 100th, unless it brings something remarkable to the table, will go unnoticed. But literally nothing is stopping anyone, to answer the question. The question is, is it worth it? Most people don't think Bytecoin is worth it, and thus, they don't adopt it, don't install the client, and without people accepting Bytecoin, it doesn't do much. The natural order of any commodity, I think.
