Interesting question. If I was to develop such a patch, what language(s) would it have to be in. C++?

I'm not entirely sure. I think it's c++. Take a look at the code this guy started https://github.com/knotwork/Mergecoin

Those who have Bytecoins should mine it. It is that simple. Difficulty is high, but not that high. Actually it is really low in comparing to bitcoin.
If noone wants to mine, than it is doomed.
If someone mines - than it will survive even asic raids. We only need to wait until asics are really available to public, until then, there will be spikes...

So I vote not to merge-mine it. Just mine it!

But no one is mining.

You have the capability to mine.  May I ask why you are not?

I try to be respectful and informed.

With merged mining, you have almost guaranteed stability.

Just because I am interested, WHY are any of you opposed to the merged mining patch? WHAT about it scares you?

I got an anonymous message from the creator stating he'd do it for 3 btc but I'm not interested in basically giving the creator cash when he seems to have abandoned it.

Agreed.

He should know that the bounty only is paid when the code is done....

Well here is an update. The cocreator/actual coder wants 1btc per day to work. 5btc to take over the domain.
We can basically take over bytecoin but I don't know if it is worth it or to just give up.
Does anyone want to join me or take over?

That's ridiculous. If the actual coder really wanted to be a legitimate dev, he would make this patch without needing an exorbitant daily payment for a patch any C++ coder who understands p2p networking to make. I personally wouldn't pay for that.

I agree, but it seems this coder was actually just hired by "maria 2.0" and understands bitcoin but isn't too into the community.

How many days are needed to make the patch? I could make it in 200 days if I was lazy.

Haha i don't know. We'll keep looking.
And we can just get a new domain if needed.
Jaywaka would you like to be a co-leader?

If I can find some good resources to begin learning C++, then yes.

Or just a non-developer leader.
