Merged mining has never seemed worth it to me.  It often amounts to practically nothing.

I have built a Ubuntu Precise Pangolin (12.04) binary for bytecoin.  I posted the instructions.

I also have an installation of eloipool running, and I generated a block with it last night.  This is a preliminary installation, everything running in a 64 bit Ubuntu virtual box.

I try to be respectful and informed.

I have placed a buy order for 25,000 BTE on coinex.  Please feel free to place a sell order.

This might be a good deal for an early miner.

did anyone consider that a byte = 8 bits, hence bytecoin should be 8x the value of bitcoin? I think we'll be surprised in the coming months when this one "pops"

I don't think that has any influence.  However, I do think the price will be set by the ratio of difficulties for the two block-chains.  I also think that the first generation ASIC devices will begin to mine bytecoin as the difficulty becomes higher for bitcoin.

Today that target rate is

369234.984 / 1180923195.258 ---> 0.00031266638 BTC/BTE

I try to be respectful and informed.

Just started to mine this coin.  Hope it goes somewhere.  There are  so many, its hard to pick which one to go with.  I'm just a small fish in a big pond, so I am just getting my feet wet.

Just because. What, are you one of those "free market" heretics???

Disclaimer because this is the internet. The above is sarcasm. I am a smartass. If you have chosen the alternative, please keep it to yourself, for the interest of the gene pool.

It's a valid question, not a dig. Why should I use Bytecoin over Bitcoin? Tell me the list advantages?

Personally, I have no clue. I just never miss a chance to be a smartass. From everything I've seen, it's occasionally good trade fodder. There doesn't appear to be any advantage outside of that. But I'm not heavily involved in it either.

i havent got any pms from you on this account are you sure ur not sending me a message on my other account?.The EXE works fine it has always worked fine. there just arent enough node's on the network and Bryan Mills took down the seed nodes for peer discovery so finding nodes is even harder now.

I have a node at bte.vima.austin.tx.us that is up 24/7 at about 90% uptime.
It has about 30 connections at any given time.

Perhaps I could publish peers.dat, or a textfile with seeds, if that is helpful.
