The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

I know github can be tricky for those unfamiliar.

Mirror for the windows client posted here:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/bytecoin081/

Hopefully that is easy enough? Let me know if you still have difficulties.

i havent got any pms from you on this account are you sure ur not sending me a message on my other account?.The EXE works fine it has always worked fine. there just arent enough node's on the network and Bryan Mills took down the seed nodes for peer discovery so finding nodes is even harder now.

I have a node at bte.vima.austin.tx.us that is up 24/7 at about 90% uptime.
It has about 30 connections at any given time.

Perhaps I could publish peers.dat, or a textfile with seeds, if that is helpful.

Yes please that way everyone can just use that to connect up

I added the IPv4 address to bte.vima.austin.tx.us

I try to be respectful and informed.

yes, but there is something strange in getting started section  :

"4. Create a ByteCoin address to recieve payments.

    Downloading the client & block chain: Download the ByteCoin client from here "

"here" is the link to https://bytecoin.org/ (is that official bytecoin site? pretty cool). But binaries for windows from bytecoin.org are not working!

Algo: CryptoNight;
Block reward decreases each block according to the formula:
BaseReward = (MSupply - A)/218
where MSupply = (264 - 1) atomic units and 'A' is amount of already generated coins;

I'm not sure that they copied us.

Spec's don't match the Bytecoin this thread is about.. I suspect someone started a new coin and was unaware someone had already released a Bytecoin.

Need to contact those developers, this will get confusing fast Sad

Guys! I spend some time studying that strange bytecoin from bytecoin.org

May be I'm captain obvious, but that's completely different from our bytecoin. So we have slight confuse with the coin names. But the first community news there says their system was launched July 4th, 2012. I'm sure our bytecoin was announced ~ April, 2013. Have we stolen their name?

Meanwhile, I tried to mine that bytecoin and have found a block:

Is there anyone else mining it?

well. it doesnt even look to be based off bitcoin. (might be a multicoin fork though?) so i'd kind of say our's is the real coin. i doubt the other one is even used at all

huh
now mining diff is about 295000, block time is 120 sec. so network hashrate is something like 2460 hr/s.  "show_hr" command in bytecoind showed my hashrate is 0.9286 (Core i5-2500K@3.30GHz)

ok, 2460/0.9286 = considering all the possible errors it's 2-3K miners.

don't know what's about you, but i'm in and started mining

tired of identical bitcoin forks? try out BCN - no ASICs, no transaction tracking https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=512747.0

And, extrapolating Bitcoin model, where miner is only VERY small part of community... Wow. Thousands of people using bytecoin since 2012.
 what's exchange rate?

As now it's clear that bytecoin from bytecoin.org is not our Bytecoin, I created special thread for it: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=512747.0
You are welcome to discuss it there.
