I've got a photo of the 2Pac test setup posted. The 2-chip BF16 test board is still a work in progress, nothing worth photographing yet.

Chips tomorrow - is that the Merry Christmas sample chips you're sending so I can prototype pods? Sweet.

I'm really looking forward to having more news for you all.

Cool, quiet and up to 1TH pod miner, on sale now!

Awesome news. It is great to hear that the chips are (almost) on their way to sidehack.
Hopefully, they will be easy for vh to communicate with and get everything working nicely.

Phew.. took some time to read this thread through Smiley Haven't had much time to visit forums lately as things are moving at pretty crazy speeds here at Bitfury, but rest assured I'll do all I can to support community miners such as the pod and the compac also in the future.

P.S. Sidehack show photos of the boards already!!
P.P.S. Chips are going to get shipped tomorrow
Smiley Smiley Happy Happy, Joy Joy!! Smiley Smiley

Sounds like everything's going as planned and production of the sticks will begin in a few weeks Smiley Hopefully everything else will as well, never been more happy in my life for a miner. I'm ready to pull out S5s for these new miners!

I will probably be doing an S5 board exchange thing where folks can cash in those PCBs for sticks or pods. Be a good way to make sure I stay in chips. The 2Pac run will probably be limited, but if sales of the pod are good I'll probably kepe making those. The 2Pac will be superseded by the BF16 stick anyway, but the old-chip pod will be a nice "bargain" pod versus the higher entry cost (and accordingly better specs) of the BF16 pod.

Do you have a running list for the 2pacs yet? I want to order a few while I have the cash in hand and will get the BF stuff once taxes come in. I want at least 2 minimum so I can run one modded/oc'd against the modded OG stick and one to leave untouched.

Yeah, there's details in a post about two pages back. I haven't gotten around to setting up an official Group Buy thread but I'll try and do that tomorrow. Fridays are good days for odds-and-ends work.

Maybe I am getting ahead of the storyline, but once chips are stripped from the S5 boards, could remaining S5 "carcasses" be used to mount BF chip based presumable boards later, or likely not? Thanks.

Yes, that's the idea. The final goal for BF16 design is a 33-chip board designed specifically to mount on S1/3/5 chassis. I'll make sure it's compatible with S3 housings too. The thing will be USB-connected, so it might take a header adapter or something to still plug into the boards inside the case but I'll make sure it's possible. S1 and S5, being fairly open, should have no trouble.

I'll probably do something like a 2Pac for every S5 board sent in, or a pod for every 2 or 4 boards. Once I settle on something I'll make sure it's in the Group Buy thread details.

S3 to S5 is the same other than the location of the pcie plugs. On the s5 boards the pcie plugs are slightly further apart and a bit lower.

It would be nice to use a s3 cover without any mods but Im sure most would be fine without the cover. Honestly one could just run the plugs in there before they close it up or a jumper cable mounted to the cover. Not a big deal IMO.

Hotel room actually
I have 20TH running already at home
But work is sticking me in a hotel for 5 months in southern ontario SO I may as well milk it for what I can while I'm stuck there

Problem I have with them, is they block MAC addresses on their network, unless it's been authorized.
So unless I can somehow trick the system into thinking my miner is a laptop, no joy
But using a USB setup through my already approved laptop. All good Smiley

Sidehack, could you just clarify something for me?

I've just read in the 2pac sales thread that Philip asked if the older version of cgminer gekko would work with the new 2pac stick. You said it would show a lot of HW errors. Now the code that vh is doing, is that for the chip so it talks to cgminer correctly or will there be an update for cgminer to be able to run the new hardware you're producing?

If you're too lazy to ssh into openwrt...Just use an r1 to bridge to lan, use your laptop for logging into the network (if they have one of those wifi portals) hook up a switch and your golden.

And if you're using an r1 you might as well use crazyguy's r1 patch so that you can mine altcoins or solo ck... Grin
