I compiled the version with the external input.cl but i get the python version error.

i installed python 3.4.5 and create symlink, now when i call python i get the 3.4.5 prompt, but the miner still complain about the python version.

what can I do?

do i need python 4 to use it?

i am in ubuntu 14.04

thanks

[EDIT] SOLVED, do this:
https://gist.github.com/n1koo/7c0455b674d3c3a9d4cccf53837b270e

and I created a symlink /usr/bin/python3.5 python
and python to pyton3.5.5 (for some reason, somewhere is specified to look for python3.5.5  Roll Eyes )

30 Sol/s on 1 GTX 1070 , stock clock, 90W TPL.
100% CPU usage Sad

Thanks Sinden, Jakobito

working now Smiley but way too slow compared to the closed source with 10% dev fee (30 sol/s vs 46 sol/s (and 10% CPU usage!))
but improving  Grin

I have a question for you: why does 1 of your 2 servers behind equihash.eu.nicehash.com returns a 17 bytes nonce (37.58.117.214) and the other a 5 bytes nonce (5.153.50.217)? Only the latter is supported by silentarmy.

Please revise the official stratum documentation at https://slushpool.com/help/#!/manual/stratum-protocol. There are no such limitations, a nonce can be even larger. The fact that you're receiving different nonce sizes is not related to a particular NiceHash stratum endpoint. It is simply a fact that NiceHash is forwarding work from different hashing power orders, which are working on different target pools. Anyway, 17 bytes nonce is the largest (max) that you'll receive from NiceHash stratum and even at this size you still have 3 bytes for iteration. So there is no reason why not to accept this kind of work. Please fix this as soon as possible, since our users would really love to use your miner and are now not able to do so due to these limitations of your miner.

Thank you and keep up the good work!

I went back and tried to install the official AMD drivers thinking that was the problem.

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 unity-control-center : Depends: libcheese-gtk23 (>= 3.4.0) but it is not going to be installed
                        Depends: libcheese7 (>= 3.0.1) but it is not going to be installed
E: Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages.

I am on 14.04 using 5x 280x.  I was on 16.04 until I realized that they don't make drivers for the 280x for that version of Ubuntu so I downgraded.  Doesn't matter to me which version I am on.  This is strictly a mining machine.  Thanks for your time.

If you are on 14.04 there is no need to install the official AMD drivers. Just "sudo apt-get install fglrx" as documented in silentarmy's README.md
The fglrx package is the drivers nicely repackaged/redistributed by Ubuntu.

Can only get 35ish out of my 280x on fglrx 15.04. Sad....

keep up the good work tho. Smiley

ok, nheqminer working with nvidia on windows, nicehash used one file, but when replace and paste param.h into kernel it works ... but sadly have to say 1 instance is slower, 2 instances the same speed as cuda_tromp, 3 instances did drop my gpu load and was not work... So could get only 25 sol/s when with cuda can get 25 sol/s too ... Something is not right....

I'm guessing you are using ubuntu 14.04 or a older version of python 3.4x.

remove the installation directory and all files

Code:
rm -rf silentarmy

then rebuild it.

Code:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:fkrull/deadsnakes -y
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:chris-lea/libsodium -y
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install -y python3.5 libsodium-dev
git clone https://github.com/mbevand/silentarmy
cd silentarmy
make
sed -i 's/python3/python3.5/' silentarmy

then see if it runs by typing

Code:
./silentarmy --list
OR
Code:
./silentarmy --use 0,1,2,3,4,5,6 -c stratum+tcp://us1-zcash.flypool.org:3333 -u twalletaddress.WorkerName

If you have 2gb card use
Code:
./silentarmy --instances 1 --use 0,1,2,3,4,5,6 -c stratum+tcp://us1-zcash.flypool.org:3333 -u twalletaddress.WorkerName

Credit mainly goes to n1koo for the fix/workaround.  His response is here https://gist.github.com/n1koo/7c0455b674d3c3a9d4cccf53837b270e

I couldn't get it to work until your post (saw n1koo but maybe I didn't remove and rebuild?) Anyway, whatever you said to do it worked  Grin

Thank You Grin Grin

I figured I would start fresh yet again and have done a clean install of Ubuntu 14.04.  After it booted up the first command I typed was "sudo apt-get install fglrx" and the system complained about not having libcheese so I installed that and then ran sudo apt-get install fglrx. I then did a reboot and when I open a terminal there are colors/artifacts and I read any windows.

Could compile on a default xubuntu 16.10 with manually installed Nvda prop drivers and cuda toolkit.
Testing with geforce 1080

Code:
367.48 && 367.57 tested
,,,,
nvcc: NVIDIA (R) Cuda compiler driver
....
Cuda compilation tools, release 8.0, V8.0.44

Code:
# Change this path if the SDK was installed in a non-standard location
OPENCL_HEADERS = "/usr/local/cuda-8.0/include/"
# By default libOpenCL.so is searched in default system locations, this path
# lets you adds one more directory to the search path.
LIBOPENCL = "/usr/local/cuda-8.0/lib64/"

However, theres no GPU load and a couple errors:

Code:
./silentarmy -v -v -v --instances 1 --use 0  -p x

I've did some research about error, that i posted before:
Quote
Solver 3.0: unexpected banner "Maximum number of clients reachedMaximum number of clients reachedSILENTARMY mining mode ready"
miner is reached Xorg max clients limit - in Debian it's 256. When i look into lsof -U output, i saw, that every sa-solver opens 17 connections, so we have 17 (per sa-solver) * 7 (GPUs) * 2 (thread per GPU) = 238 connections just for solvers and a few connections from main process: http://sprunge.us/UgXB - may be more just after startup because i see only 16 connections from last 2 threads. So, when i removed banner checking from silentarmy script
Code:
        if banner != "SILENTARMY mining mode ready":
            print('Solver %s: unexpected banner "%s"' % (devid, banner))
            proc.kill()
            self.cleanup_solvers(devid)
            return
i've successfully launched miner in 2 thread mode for all 7 GPUs, but... my script for fan/frequency control (that use aticonfig) stops working because aticonfig can't connect to Xorg anymore.

So, is it really nesessary to use so many connections?

my 7 GPU rig has been running solid for the last 5+ hours ever since I fired it up.  No dropped GPUs ... No crash  Cool
Maybe you use Ubuntu, 512 connections limit there: https://www.mail-archive.com/debian-x@lists.debian.org/msg83944.html

17 connections per sa-solver? On an Ubuntu 16.04 system with the amdgpu-pro 16.40 drivers, I notice each sa-solver opens only 1 connection. Example with 4 sa-solver instances:

Quote
$ lsof -U | grep sa-solver
sa-solver 2121  mrb    0u  unix 0x0000000000000000      0t0 342442 type=STREAM

I am trying to be conservative/safe. Because the fewer bytes you have to iterate the nonce, the higher the chance is that a fast multi-GPU rig will have 2 GPUs that accidentally work on the same nonce. I am planning to release a significant speedup where an Equihash round might take 20ms or less. With 7 GPUs running 3 Equihash instances, they will exhaust 1% of the 3-byte nonce space in 150 seconds. So there is a ~1% chance that duplicate work is being performed by 2 Equihash instances.

In practice this is not so much a problem because new mining jobs are pushed more frequently than every 150 seconds, but still... this does not give me the absolute confidence of correctness that I like SILENTARMY to have.

Anyway, I pushed a nicehash-compatibilty update to tolerate stratum servers fixing 17 bytes of the nonce: https://github.com/mbevand/silentarmy/commit/0d371a9582159627b11941c14ca6cbc3da359cb1

Perhaps I will eventually permanently address the issue by allowing the last 12 bytes of the nonce to be non-zero...

Should I install Ubuntu 16.04 dektop or the other one with black screen ?

The desktop edition works fine. Personally I install the server edition ("black screen") because my system is headless and I admin it over SSH. The README.md file documents exactly the steps to install the drivers and SDK.

That out of the way, I know you need to create a file basically lika a config.txt equivalent for it to trigger this.  I have tried and just don't know how.  It takes me back when I was learning DOS and Qbasic, omg 25 years ago.  I guess my question is how do you get this miner to run?  I have created the file and #!/bin/bash but after that I just don't know what to put in it.  Thanks and I apologize for the ignorance.

You can just put this in the bash script:

Code:
#!/bin/bash
/path-to-the-silentarmy-directory/silentarmy -c stratum+tcp://your.pool.here:1234 -u your-address-here -p password

And to fix your "make" issue, run "sudo apt-get install build-essential libsodium-dev" as described in README.md. This will install "make" and other required dependencies.

Do you know what the script would be to have the computer restart after about 60 minutes and then start the miner again?  Basically I guess I'd have to put a command in some pre-existing startup file that points to a script like the one above.  And then have a command in the script above that restarts after 60 minutes.

I want to try this because the miner works well until one of my GPUs (290s) randomly crashes between 5 minutes and an hour after startup.  It's just unstable and I've tried a lot of things to fix it but I can't.

Cool. I've also made a pull for extranonce.subscribe

https://github.com/mbevand/silentarmy/pull/39

btw: I also believe that you should pull this one https://github.com/mbevand/silentarmy/pull/17 per stratum specs

17 connections per sa-solver?
As you see. And on different rigs i see different connections count per thread. For example, on my first 10 rigs: http://sprunge.us/gfIR

mrb, I also would love to support the request to pool

Code:

into the mainstream. Would it be possible to implement it?
