Hello again everyone.

Thank you to everyone who responded to my first thread, I got advised to start mining altcoins instead of focusing on Bitcoin, since it's going to be a rough ride if I want to get on that wagon.

I went onto "whattomine.com" and saw that Zcash was good in price, but since I dont have linux, Zcash is not possible for me right now.

I then got rather confused, because alot of mining are based on graphics cards, but mostly graphics cards besides Nvidia?

So my question is, what altcoin should i focus on, I am currently sitting with an I7 4790K CPU and Nvidia Geforce GTX970

Thanks!
Alex.

Are there no windows zcash miners for your set up right now? I am sure there are. Look up geniol or something or if you don't mind running a closed source miner that could contain anything then run claymore's miner I think that is even faster.

I would check out the mining section and check out ethereums profit compared to zcash... maybe go 50/50 or check daily on which is best.

I would look at the big marketcaps in cryptocoin marketcap, and then see the correlation between marketcap and coin price. If the correlation is similar and it's uptrending then look at the project. You will see that most projects are useless scams, and the best you can do with alts is profit from the right pum and dump to make more BTC from them, which is a nice way to make BTC.

You may consider trading your card for an Ati one if there is any market for used cards near you.

you can mine zcash using windows too, there's a version of nicehash miner available at github.
If you will be mining zcash only to sell for bitcoin, just download at nicehash and go ahead, but if you want to hold(not a good idea), go for the github version.

What is your OS? Zcash is possible to run in windows and other.  Nope, you can do that with nvidia, mostly the people are search about the effectively use radeon GPU.
https://www.cryptocompare.com/mining/asus/nvidia-geforce-gtx-970-ethereum-mining/

It is possible for you starting for zcash.

If you're set on trying to mine try burstcoin (BURST) as one of your options.  All you need is free HDD space (the more the better)....it is Proof of Capacity, a very energy efficient way to mine.

The same here, Im looking for a coin which is known in the market.
At first Im checking in coinmarketcap of the supply if it has big
supply or less. Also, you can search the altcoin if it has a good
project. And, much better also to invest in a coin which is cheaper
price and wait the price to rise in the market that sure you will gain you
more profit.

Remember you can always mine Burst at the same time you use your GPU or CPU to mine other coins!
There is a small increase in CPU activity when a new block is found, otherwise your computer is using basically no resources to mine other than being turned on.
Right now my rig is mining Monero with GPU and has some extra hard drives hooked up to it mining Burst.

The Burst team also has some really good developers, a fully-developed GUI wallet that includes the miner and some other cool features.
Hopefully the coin takes off one day because its a really cool project.

i am not an expert in mining but a quick search turns up these results:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1666780.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1660023.0 (this is AMD and Nvidia)

use at your own risk also you can ask in the Mining (altcoin) board.

Actually  you could able to  to  mine zcash  on your  pc hence you do  have a  good  specced  PC and  a good GPU i guess. Mining  ZEC  is good  specially on  earlier  days  of  zcash  but  now  its  not  profitable already, in  my own  opinion and  as you can see the latest price of  each zec as of now  is already dropped  to  0.14 btc. You could  choose  another  altcoin to  mine  its either  ETH or XMR.

Eth is not advisable to mine as of now because it is facing a lot  off bugs and attacks. I will not risk my time mining a coin that have many tecnical issues. I will go for xmr if we consider the profit and its future price.

you shouldn't go for hardware mining because of coastly electricity but here i will suggest you for trade with altcoin .
But you need to do wisely . first of all make buy of alt which is at low price from one week and order to sell it at high rate in advance in this way you will get Profit .

if his electricity fee is low, i think he can try it at least he will know how to mining and if he satisfy and decide to continue then he can continue to mining. maybe he need to make calculate for the electricity first so he knows how much he will spend for mining with hardware.
