It will always hard to start an online business. As usual issue on sell/buy stuff online, buyers are afraid that they will not receive the stuff after payment and sellers are afraid that the buyers ask to send the stuff first. The first thing to do on this kind of business is using a trusted escrow, this will make both parties feel safe on what they are going to deal.

Alternatively, you can build a reputation system or even use it from available sites (public or private) where you can rate customers and next time you can deal with the certain amount only which is defined by your previous deals.       Yes but you don't want bad buyers either. If you are a new seller and you want to gain good reputation assuming that not only you have a shop but you use sites as ebay you would consider that you have some loss in principle from bad buyers. After a while when you gain a good reputation people will trust you (positive feedback) and you will claim some amount in advance and the balance on delivery or entire the amount. Good buyers know how difficult is for a seller to acquire positive evaluations and will trust you to send their money in advance.

Use 2 of 3 multisig address with an escrow. A multisignature address will be generated with the buyer, seller and the escrow's key. Have your buyer send the fund to the multisig's address. If the transaction goes well, the buyer and the seller will be able to sign the transaction to transfer the funds to the seller's address. If there is a dispute, the escrow can decide who to release the fund to.

Trust is hard to gain especially on online business. Many are afraid to transact with strangers. Before you have thier trust, they will ask for many proofs, if you are just a new seller you ate on risk. 2 things u must bear on your mind, you are dealing with scammer or dealing with trusted people. Escrow and mediator can be very helpful. Or if you are near from the place of your buyer or seller, try to have the meet ups option.

Well people already advices you how to proceed, you will need an escrow to handle both parts funds, otherwise you will get scammed very soon and i dont believe is that you wanna.

Have a trusted escrow or midman. If you're selling here in the forum find some reputable escrows. If it's througu using social medias like facebook choose an escrow that you will agree both. If your costumer is not agreeing for escrow think twice or don't make a transactiom to that costumer. You may lose money in the end.

Get them to send half-4/5ths before you mail the good out and then get them to send the remainder. Get them to send whatever would cover or majorly cover the cost of the item, and then get them to finish it up after that. It might not be a perfect plan, but it should help to mitigate a majority of the issues you're having. If people don't want to pay for it beforehand, then skip out and think of it like you dodged a bullet.

That's not really a good way, usually people don't trust the seller and wold not even send half the btc first and as you said in other case they would just refuse to pay the other half, that's just in all a loss for the seller. The best method is escrow as suggested by many people in previous posts.

Do you use bitcoin or some other payment method?

Use escrows,if you trade goods for bitcoin.This lowers the risk,but can`t remove it completely.

The best way for that is make sure that they are really going to pay you after you send them the goods, how? just simply ask them to send you pictures that they are a legit buyers or you can also use Escrow for that to be 100% sure that they are really going to pay you because it is really sad whenever you get scam and I know that feeling.

I will suggest you for to offer discounts offer for your customers at online payment during order , In this way you will get you money for your product before delivery and with attraction of discounts more and more customers will come to get products or goods by you .

I think you can show the proof of shipping to your costumers that the goods has been shipped to them, and you can do suggesting to the costumers waiting until the goods coming to their home, you don't have any reasons fear lose bad costumers if they just be liars to you, still there are many honest costumers out there.

i think the best way to make transaction is by downloading zebpay and sell  ur bitcoins there .or otherwise create a account in localbitcoins and verify ur account through email id ..ad look out for spammers ..always go for  transactions with people who have verified stamp and are trustworthy.kuddos

And the worst part is you use this accounts to farm and the one is already is wearing a signature.

Anyways back to OP you don't have to be reckless specially when you are in business. Escrow is a must if you are selling it in this forum and if you have already a website its a  must that you must receive the payment first before sending goods to your buyer.

As most users quoted, using escrow service is the best option to keep your customers as well earn through your business. Other than this based upon the trust you have you can demand your customers to pay initially and can ship after receiving the amount.

that's right , you should use escrows in order to ensure that you are in a secure and safe transaction . or if you are having a hard time finding an escrow then maybe you can tell the person who wants to buy a goods from you that he need to send the payment first before you send your goods to him don't worry about the customer because as what you've said some customer are not paying after you send the goods/service to him so this will be good for your business .
