How can I compute/estimate the total current hashing power in the bytecoin network?  I've noticed some altcoins have a getnetworkhashespersec API command, but I don't think Bitcoin or Bytecoin have one.  I'm also not sure how it works.

You can use CCE API to get lots of raw information, including nethash.

For example:

Will give you:

Code:

blockNumber:          height of last block in interval + 1
time:                 block time in seconds since 0h00 1 Jan 1970 UTC
target:               decimal target at blockNumber
avgTargetSinceLast:   harmonic mean of target over interval
difficulty:           difficulty at blockNumber
hashesToWin:          expected number of hashes needed to solve a block at this difficulty
avgIntervalSinceLast: interval seconds divided by blocks
netHashPerSecond:     estimated network hash rate over interval

Statistical values are approximate and differ slightly from http://blockexplorer.com/q/nethash.

Default INTERVAL=144, START=0, STOP=infinity.
Negative values back from the last block.
Append ?format=json to URL for headerless, JSON output.

Basically a table of values related to net hash, including an estimated net hash (last value on each row) for every 50 blocks starting with block 14050.

I have received e-mails for instructions on how to use the explorers API, I will work on a quick write in the next few days.

The network is still moving along, very slowly.. typically a block or two is found per day as of late.

I'm wondering if anyone made any progress towards merged mining support?

This coin deserves 10000% more love than all these shitclones of litecoin. I want to ressurect this coin. Anyone got a server ip I can add for a node, im setting up servers on my vps's but can't seem to get the daemons to sync. The windows qt is the same, wont sync.
