I truly don't understand how this coin makes any sense whatsoever. I can use popcorntime or any other site and there is no confusing cryptocurrency baked into the platform. Look at how easy it is to make your own torrent site; this project is incredibly overrated and overpriced. I bought into the ico (no brainer with the small marketcap) and dumped at 5x. Thanks for all the free btc suckas!!! If the devs weren't anonymous I may have considered holding longer but mark my word...in one month this project will be dead and buried.

http://bgr.com/2015/01/22/best-torrent-sites-build-your-own/

Do it then. build your own, run an ico and you make the btc. Go for it.

Lol . ICO is so simple man. I can use bitshares, ethereum, or waves; this is no longer complicated to do, any 16 year old can do it. I don't see any point in building a streaming service with a crypto built in. Maybe if users could upload their own content, but nothing groundbreaking here. Why would I use purevidz vs. all other available options. I was using what.cd and oink way back in the day. No crypto needed.

What if I told you that this is part of the plan?

 Wink

our primary source of content for personal videos, i.e. vlogs, personal recordings, etc.

so, PureVidz is not just going to be movies and series?

you guys are going even further than that?

Yes the scope of our project was never just movies and TV although its a great starting place to gain traction in terms of a user base and community.

So we have to accelerate because LBRY (LBC) is about to launch.

If you listen to the interview with lbry on crypto core radio (soundcloud). they clearly state that they will be complying with government regulations and if any governing agency asks them to take content down then they will. VIDZ is more like the dark version of it.

screening would have to be decentralized. centralized anything is bad design in long term. for now, as it's unfinished, it's tolerable, but it has to be fully decentralized and independent from main devs to succeed and withstand attacks.

also why are people still talking about torrents. there is nothing torrent related anymore on the project. torrent for most people is considered a bad thing anyway, and it's boring compared to IPFS that it actually uses. I guess people haven't read the updates.

I actually disagree.  The screening process for content should be centralized.  People love to rave about decentralized blockchain postings but this only leads to spam and network ddos attacks.

Also another reason the screening process does not need to be decentralized is that this is not a social media.  Who would censor a movie or tv show?

The tactic the dev team have implemented is the best.. which is why I like these devs so much.  They know their shit and can speak proper english (differentiates them from 75% of the devs here).  Yes they're anonymous but for good reason.

Also to all the idiots fudding here.. The devs have already received the majority of the ICO bitcoin.  If they continue to update and go further than the milestones they can easily make much money than they did off the ICO from Vidz.

Maintaining the site is cheap because all the content is decentralized.  No point in running because of website cost.  The only thing they need to do is improve loading times, implement Vidz coin (coming soon), and begin advertising.  All this is very little work compared to the potential revenue a popular purevidz website could generate.

It's a numbers game and the numbers say: hold long term.

lookin neat. whats your stake weight? I'm quarreling with my wallet again because it's not staking the whole wallet, only a lil bit of it (like 2/3) right now.

Is there a (small) how-to-stake guide? I've send an amount to my windows wallet and as far as I understand it, it needs 250 confirmations, do I still need to do something afterwards? Or do you automatically 'enroll' after 250 confs?
thanks

250 confs and you're good to got, just unlock your wallet to stake when encrypted (recommended)

hovering the thunderbolt icon (black for staking, grey for inactive) shows you your actual weight, network weight and expected time to reward.

1288603 for the moment but it changes a lot I think because I deposited into the wallet at so many different intervals. You think it would be better if I sent the whole thing to myself just to consolidate times ?

I actually disagree.  The screening process for content should be centralized.  People love to rave about decentralized blockchain postings but this only leads to spam and network ddos attacks.

I can think of several IP/copyright agencies who would. Also several white knights who think banning cloning of files is the moral thing to do. Network ddos won't work against PoS. Decentralized blockchain was created specifically to prevent censorship such as in the cases of copyright enforcers trying to silence copies of files and links to copies of files to enact their belief that copying files is a crime. Decentralized also means it can function without the devs - if they disapear the chain goes on. Community voting and sorting would be much better long term. If their identities are ever revealed, they would be the weak point in this chain on a centralized chain and not on decentralized. This isn't like most projects on ethereum that have no business to be decentralized, this is extremely the exact type of scenario that requires decentralization to survive.

I like devs approach too, but more from centralized version running NOW and decentralized LATER, with ideally the wallet becoming the alternative always working decentralized interface. It also makes sense for them to do the screening now since the project is still young and needs work to be self sustainable. And being able to check out the website, with working ipfs, is incredible.
