Thank you for the post. Im hope in the future there will be an easier way to do this. I dont have any problems following along, but for an average person I can see this would be pretty complex.

Indeed, it's not a problem for me either but for other people it can be pretty complex. Hopefully someone will make a more user-friendly way of securing your wallet that people who are not so tech-minded can do.

Great article. Being the lazy twat that I am, I'll probably just keep my coins in an instawallet and hope for the best. For BC's to really take off, things really need to be simplified; for lazy twats like me, and for the lemmings. Thanks aways.

I only use truecrypt.
The problem I see is the password. You could log that anytime. The only real safe form would be mentioned Booting CD but thats too much hassle. You can minimize the risk by putting your "main" wallet to a stick encrpted with a different password than your everyday use wallets. And instead of using that main wallet you got to create more and more.
Dificult for normal people. But I dont see a real solution to the problem. Its a digitized wallet. You learn how to take care of it or dont bother with btcs at all.

In Australia credit card losses are limited to $50 so long as you did not contribute to the loss.
That seems like a good rule of thumb for how much to have in your spending wallet at a time. Enough to be useful, not so much that it would hurt to lose.

Thanks for this. For my small amount of btc (5-10) I won't bother with all the liveCDs, but it was informative, and I will consider it if I start to use btc more.

Great tips. Still can't figure out why there isn't a Bitcoin Live-CD available yet.

Hopefully this won't be quite as necessary when the new multi sig stuff comes in. Should be a bit harder to steal (or spend) wallets after that if I'm understanding stuff correctly.
