Greetings,

Has anybody else noticed that the last block was 2 days ago?
What is going on?

Is Mooncoin being attacked or has it somehow broken?

Yes, 2 days behind on my wallet and the block explorer is behind as well.

A PM was sent to our dev, barrysty1e,
he reported a couple of days ago multiple DDoS attacks against MOON nodes.

If you'd like to support the Mooncoin network, run your nodes, wallet links are in the OP.

hi guys,
as per moon_foundations comments - both of my nodes have been under heavy attack for the past week now.
received several notifications that aux.bazco.in was being ddos'd in excess of 220mbit/sec, which is spectacular.
investigating now.

Reminder:
please update your wallet ASAP to the 0.10.5 version
(wallet links are in the OP https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1733963.msg17349356#msg17349356).

If you don't update before the block 1,100,000 (in a couple of weeks),
you will not be able to move and sell your coins.
The Bleutrade Exchange, NovaExchange, Coingather etc. are on a new wallet already!

hi guys,

seems like the shift to a newer codebase has brought some neat consensus features with it.
my nodes have been attacked repeatedly (over the past few weeks) and i had taken them offline to examine what exactly was going on.

once these two nodes were down, the network continued to operate for some time, as there were still other sufficient 0.10.5 nodes present.
a third node stopping (or possibly some other event, even a timeout) has basically caused the few remaining nodes to refuse to commit any new blocks until the network had become stable again.

in this case clients which reported use of protocol 70001 (legacy Mooncoin wallets) were not enough to satisfy this requirement. this in itself is fantastic; as it means the upcoming fork at block 1,100,000 should work smoothly.
whilst migrating the code from 0.8 to 0.10 codebase; i had actually bumped the protocol up to 70002, meaning the new clients will actually ignore the old ones completely after this block.

please ensure that you have upgraded to the latest client before block 1,100,000
additionally, if you know how to export your private keys and store them somewhere safe; this is an additional safeguard.

fortunately there are quite a few stragglers (still running old code) on the network, if we can steadily increase the amount of hosts running new code, this should not pose any problems.

Please register an account at https://mercatox.com and vote for MOON. It's free, you need only a valid e-mail.
Mercatox is a promising exchange, they run an active marketing campaign.
The Mooncoin listing at Mercatox could help MOON go to the fair price levels.

Greetings again everyone,

I've been asked by a few people for instructions, as to backing up their wallet files and/or exporting their private keys for safe storage.

Backing up your wallet.dat can be done two different ways.
The first
With your Mooncoin client not loaded; open your Start Menu, and via Run or Explorer, go to the path '%appdata%' (this is equivalent to using Explorer to find 'C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming').
From here, open 'Mooncoin'. You will find 'wallet.dat' in this folder. Take a copy and store it in a safe location (encrypted USB disk/partition is ideal).
The second
From within the Mooncoin wallet itself, select the 'File' menu and then choose 'Backup Wallet'.

Exporting your private keys can be done via the following method:
Open the debug console, enter the command 'listaddressgroupings'. This will list all of your public keys which have/or have had a balance. Feel free to copy the output to somewhere easier to work with it.
From here, any address which contains a significant balance; select and copy its address (without the quotes) and enter the following into Debug:
Code:
dumpprivkey <address>
Mooncoin will list the private key for you, copy this information into a file and save to a safe location (same as above, encrypted USB disk/partition).

Do not leave your private keys laying around; and do not post them here, nor message them via privmsg etc - anyone who has this key can import and take your funds.

James,

network stuck since 3 hours.

edit: I advice you, to hardcode the nodes, and kill all old nodes after your fork, because old nodes always let the network stuck.
If we can help you, so let me know, of course with a bonus.

Hi Steve,

The difficulty is currently at 18.05 - just a particularly difficult block to solve.

<hashes_to_solve_block> = <diff> * (2^32) / <blocktime>
18.05 * (2^32) / 90 = 861,379,552.14 hashes (861mh)

More than likely, a multipool has mined Mooncoin until no longer profitable to the minute.

Also, I had hardcoded these nodes from the beginning.
We can't help for the old nodes, as they are not owned by us; and we have fairly comprehensively contacted all pools/exchanges that we know of.

Exchanging MOON is quite simple, if you mean that.
Try the Bleutrade exchange, they have been working since 2014 and have a lot of customers:
https://bleutrade.com/exchange/MOON/DOGE.

If you want to buy MOON not via exchanges, search 'Mooncoin' at eBay.
People were selling MOON there a while ago.

If you want to see MOON at BTC markets, please vote for MOON listing at https://mercatox.com.
It's free, you need only a valid e-mail to register an account.

Let dumpers dump MOON at sub-satoshi markets just before the upcoming reward halving in March.
Don't be cheated and passive. Vote for MOON!
