How is trading *not* gambling?

Hard to explain how trading is different from gambling. But here is a thing that just came to my mind, in trading you are all in to make money. But in gambling you do in primarily for fun or entertainment. Making money comes second in gambling. And you can control your losses in trading more than in gambling.

If people do the trading without any knowledge of trading then it is also similar to trading because they are just trading based on believe or luck. Gambling games are mainly for fun and entertainment so you need to spend money for these entertainments. If you manage trading well then you can surely make decent profits over the time but in gambling, it is not possible to make a profit in the longer run.

If those people are trading without any enough knowledge to do good trades then it is safe to say that they are gambling because they don't know what to do and they just go and go and buy and sell without great analysis. Trading is not a gambling if you know what you are doing and if you know how to make profit in a short or longer run of trades, it is all about knowledge and skills and also experience.

Not all the time, sometimes you also need skills in order to win because that would only give you a chance to be consistent, when you are lucky you will win but human nature that we will not stop until we win a bigger amount that would satisfy us, so most likely our winnings will be lose again when we gamble again. Not just riskier, it's more than that. You need a tremendous amount of luck when you gamble and there is a huge possibility of losing everything. That means take 0.5BTC for gambling and come out with nothing.. Trading is not like that, you can plan, make a strategy, think of what you can lose and what not. Gambling is different from trading.

Good skills alone doesn't gonna profit you good. You need to have a big backing investment along with skills. With trading the profiting happens respect to the amount we keep hold. With gambling a small amount with additional transaction fee is enough to make a better earning if lucky.

I agree with the luck factor. Both trading and gambling need some luck to be successful yet trading is more sustainable and that's the point I'm trying to make. With gambling you'll always have the house, and in the long run it will screw you over and you'll end up losing a lot of your initial investment since most of the games are designed for them to make money not the user. Trading doesn't have a 'house', other than the broker but they don't control the market. You're essentially playing with the market. The market is irrational and somewhat unpredictable at times but yet it can be extremely profitable if used right without any foolish mistakes.

I do not agree as gambling is an art of both skill and luck!
Reason being gamblers develop discipline and experience and  if a gambler goes into trading the go in with a sixth sense and will not crack or attach emotions and will apply the same principles while trading...Which makes trading no different from gambling.

We have a same thought about gambling and trading. Trading is way different on gambling because in trading there is no luck needed but a hard work and focus. And in trading there is more probability to earn because you are the one who will manage it and not just bot that does not have good decision making. But there is a common denominator on the two. Both has risk if you will do it but in trading it worth the risk because it is not jut gambling your bitcoin on a low probability way.
