Mining is not just about the Money, it's more about Journey, over coming the challenges and the wonderful people you meet along the way.

**Most of you would know me by my original username "Nhando" but that account was hacked and Admin never did anything to fix it so I have to use this account**

First, I want to thank all the Senior forum members who helped me get to where I am today.  Special shoutout to philipma1957, Finsy, Kilo17, notlisted3D, MarkAZ, ProudClown, Hawkfish007 and many more).  Special shout out to my local mining brothers (Lac and Richard) with their priceless Labor in time of need.  Of course I can't end it without thanking my real brother Galang and sister Hong for always believing in their brother.  They never ask "WHY, but always HOW can I help?".  To my brother in law Nhat with all his genius designs and countless hrs helping me, all this is not possible without his help.

Most important thanks is to my wife and kids who are willing to put up with all my crazy projects, the "why is there a 2 car garage but I'm parked in the rain, why do we have the AC on in the WINTER? and best one, ARGHHHH, the POWER is out again DAD!!".   Only miners know the crazy extent we're willing to go for our hobby!  Hahaha

P.S Please expect grammatical errors as  I generally do my posting in the craziest of wheee hours in the night.

I do lots of Product reviews in my thread and I do not get any incentives from those Vendors or resellers.  But no one understands other miners better than miners themselves so support our community.

For Risers - I would recommend reaching out to Hawkfish007
For Server PSU - I would recommend reaching out to Finksy
For the Most kick ass Mining OS and Rig resetting Automation - Reach out to Tytanick and www.simplemining.net

My Farm is growing so I decided to EXPAND but via 2 separate directions.

Hosting service - Data Center Mining Garage
Personal mining - This is my fun Man Mining Cave

Part 1 - Data Center Mining Garage

I will update more as the build is still in progress but this build allows me to support up to 490 GPUs using minimal space via 7 x 42U rack.  It's easier to control heat flow with these enclosed unit and movable heat walls.  I will also compare it to my previous Open air rig design which is very more difficult to control heat.

Part 2 Sexy Shed ( Starts on Page 14)

Nice work!

Thanks Phillip.  Learned most of my mining and power stuff from you back in the Antminer days!  Some of the FANs you're seeing in the server cases are the Ultra Kaze fans you recommended me from back in the IBM 4KW days.  I still use those PSU to power 5 x 470 rigs.  They are BEAST!  Finally have 550 AMP service.  =)  I will post my Shed build out too which is completely Open air designed.

This is my previous Open Air Garage design which is not as scalable as it's harder to control heat flow.  This isn't my normal layout , its just for the winter and to look pretty for the picture.  This is layout is not very ideal for heat management.  It's just to show that I've tried so many different rig type and flow layout designs before changing to this Server case design.

P.S I will be getting this AWESOME Simplemining.net Rig resetting tool soon to remotely manage all my Rigs and be able to automatically reboot any of my rigs that are freezed or just need remote reboots.

Awesome! It's RSV-L4500 isn't it? Did you mounted GPUs and risers directly to the case or used some kind of "drop-in frame"?

Yes, standard off the shelf stuff as I mentioned which also includes the 4U server case.  GPU are mounted to the case.  I did buy 2 of the Spotswood drop in frame but didn't realize how much effort it is involved to install it.  Very high quality stuff and I would recommend his product to anyone but it comes with a bag with what appears to be over 70-100+ little screws. I have about 50 plus rigs to build, I don't have that kind of cycle to mess with all those screws, I thought it would be a 5mins max install for the drop in but it wasn't.  The benefit of the the drop is that it's more secure if you want to do vertical mounting of the case which I won't be doing.  So I gave them to my friend.

P.S It does take a lot of work to build 1 of these nicely so please don't go discounting the people who actually makes pre-cofigured rigs for sell at higher markup, as they do have spend a good amount of time to do it the correct, professional way.  These cases do scratch very easy.

This is great project yun9999 and neatly organised, I wish my GPU farm is as neat and organised as yours.

My GPU farm is in a mess.

Waiting for the SRR too, to complete my GPU farm lights out operations.

But the student has certainly passed his teacher.   Very  good to see  some seeds grow into nice  trees so to speak.

Thanks Hawkfish007,
FYI Got over 150 V6 risers from you.  Working great!!!!  Definitely never going to risk buying crap risers from other people or China.  You got PM for another 100 risers for myself and friends.

@ Readers - Hawkfish007 have sold thousands of risers to many different people including myself and my hosting people.  Price is super competitive and you don't risk dealing with the crap you get from Amazon or Ebay that is either bad or can catch on fire.  If you're a large farmer, you know what I'm talking about.  PM him if you need risers, very cool CAT and the price is super competitive for USA shipping!

Very nice setup  Shocked

Well, setting up a good farm is also a matter of money and investment. You have probably invested quite a bit, no doubt about it, i would have shut down all the leds thought, this many is pretty, but cost a few precious watts  Grin

What about temperatures? Wind tunnel in close rigs is enough?

What about temperatures? Wind tunnel in close rigs is enough?

No need for wind tunnels as long as you design the intake side to be in the direction of where your fresh intake air is coming and point the Exhaust side to where your HOT zone or Exhaust fan side will be.  The most efficient way, is to build a heat wall so that the hot air doesn't recirculate back to your cool air intake zone.  I purposely oversized the CFM on the exhaust FANs for the server case so that they can easily handle any ambient Temperature even up to 100F.

Here is the picture of my intake side which is provided by 8 x Windeevents.  The Exhaust side to pull out the Heat is Dual 4600 CFM 36" Fans.  4 x Windeevents can only handle roughly about 4-5K CFM of negative pressure per my testing.  The rails you see around the Exhaust Fan is to setup my portable and movable Heat wall, so for winter, it can have it wide open if I wanted to.  For Summer, It will close off so the hot air won't get to recirculate around forcing all of it to be pulled by the Exhaust fans.  It's made to be movable via TARPs so that I can go in and out so service the gear on the front side.

@m1n1ngP4d4w4n

LEDs don't use much watts at all (FAN and LED = less than 6W) for the Chinese rigs.  The RED LEDs are all part of the MSI GPUs.    It's probably safe to say that all those LEDs in the entire setup is less than 50W or less than a typical light bulb.  I love the LEDs and I love making all the MSI dragons change to their millions of colors.  But the Garage setup will be changed to a more a more Business and Data center look as it's 1 of my hosting site for my Clients and are all built on standardized platform that is well tested by myself.  My Shed will be my Mining Man Cave with the LED party show and will be hosting my own personal gears.  That will be my Lab and Fun Zone.

CREDITS for my EXHAUST FANs and intake ideas goes to my man MARKAZ!  He also have 1 of the most impressive and sexiest mining setup as well.  All this wouldn't be possible without his guidance.  Also not possible without my brother in law flying down to help with the install and buddy Richard with the Windeevents installs.

You can use Awesome miner to manage Windows OS / Miners or the very excellent Simplemining.net OS which is plug and play Linux OS.  Simplemining.net OS is free for now and provide a web base management interface.   I just added my First Fury rig to it.  It comes with all the popular mining software like Claymore, SGMiner, Optiminer, Wolf, etc.  Very cool stuff, definitely going to be adding more rigs to it as Optiminer is faster than Claymore for ZEC and Linux seems much more stable then Windows with it's constant driver corruptions, windows update, etc.  All this and it can run off a 8GB USB drive vs paying $40 for a SSD.

This is why it's important to get quality Risers.  This one have the Copper burn right thru.   Hawkfish007  sells good quality risers and he ships very fast usually same price for express 2-3 business days.  Purchased over 200 risers from him with hardly any issues.  I wish I found him sooner as I must have burn thru easily over 70 bad ones before that.

This is one of the reasons why I standardized on MSI gaming 5 Motherboards.  You can view from the BIOS which card is having connectivity issues.  No more guessing games.

Phase 2 of the Farm build out (Shed) is starting.
