Progress update on the PoW hard fork

Pleased to announce that we have successfully build and tested the fork of Ethminer to work with Ubqhash --> Ubqminer!

We are now in the final stages with more public Testnet testing. For this we will have a pool open and make the miner available.

A blog post "Introducing Ubqhash" is being written up which will outline the origins of this hard fork, the UIP vote, the long development history and the technical specs for Ubqhash (the specs will assist some other closed source 3rd party mining software providers to support Ubqhash).

From there we will decide on a hard fork block and go through the process of informing the community and having everyone upgrade their node software and prepare their mining equipment. Likely another "hard fork specific" blog post will be made outlining the main items such as what will happen, and maybe a FAQ section

Ubiq will soon be the first Ethereum PoW fork running its own independent hashing algorithm!(edited)

Progress update on the PoW hard fork

A lot of Ubqminer testing has been done. Linux (NVIDIA and AMD) and Windows (AMD) has been tested. Thanks to the assistance of @Sven Hoek who performed the Windows testing and will eventually supply the Windows build for Ubqminer. The hard fork has been simulated and  the good news is Ubqminer will operate seamlessly during the hard fork. If you are using Ethminer already, all you need to do is replace your current version of Ethminer with Ubqminer and start hashing with it.

A Public Testnet will be up VERY SOON. Details will only be in this Discord!

Please discuss and report any issues in #ubiq-miners. We'd like to have some reports on what OS/GPU combination you're using. Please ask any 3rd parties to get involved as well (point them to the Introducing Ubqhash post) and to Ubiq Discord.

NOTE: Testnet is set to faster 5 second block times. There's no need to test your equipment for an extended amount of time.(edited)

just to clarify, the current testnet builds available, will not work on mainnet. they are specific for testnet

when the mainnet builds are released, you can swap to them before the algo change. they will mine ethash up until the change then swap to ubqhash automatically.

Public Testnet is going well and not coming up with any major issues which we didn't expect to have since a lot of testing was done beforehand.

The "Announcing the UIP1 hard fork" post is being drafted up. The next steps are to start finalizing the various code packages and making them public. Expect the post to come out next week where the hard fork block will be formally announced.

There will be a FAQ section so please assist by posting questions to the #ubiq-miners channel with the prefix "UIP1Q: " that you have or think should be covered in the FAQ section. For example:
UIP1Q: What happens to my coins on an exchange?

We are at block 621,483 as I write this.
Next epoch is block 630k. Around 1080 blocks a day so less than 8 days away. Too soon for the hard fork.
We are targeting the subsequent epoch block 660k for the hard fork. So a bit over a month away. This will VERY LIKELY be the block announced for the hard fork when the blog post comes out.
