I confirm that I have been asked to escrow this, and will generate an escrow contract (with the address) when I get my escrow laptop out from the safe in approx. 7 hours.

Ok sounds great! I would like it done this way:

1. When there's enough BTC in the pool people will send to JohnK's address. JohnK will hold my 1% until I start shipping the chips and providing people with tracking information.
2. JohnK will order the chips via Avalon
3. JohnK will put the shipping address to my location and provide me with tracking information.
4. I will ship the chips individually to contributors based on when they pledged their BTC. (You will be required for any additional individual shipping costs)
5. OPTIONAL - I have been looking into building the PCB boards for these chips and have contacted some local engineers about this and we are pretty sure that we can build one once Avalon releases their schematics. So if you want I can build for you at additional costs for the parts and labor. But this is just for future planning purposes. Nothing is set in stone yet.

From reading the Avalon webpage, I do NOT think that we need multiples of 10k chips.

http://store.avalon-asics.com/?page_id=9605

#7 - minimum of 10,000 chips, maximum of 200,000.

Thanks for the updates. I would suggest trying to target two board setups, if time/resources permit. We could also pool together to invest in contractor hours / consulting on this, for a share or discount on PCBs, if needed.

1) a mini-miner, driven by usb, passive cooling, supporting 1 or 2 chips, something like this
   http://mineforeman.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/ASICMinerUSB.jpg

2) a full-strength miner with dedicated power supply, as many chips as possible for a standard outlet wall-wart supply, with cooling baseplate, fins, and fan

Cheers

Here's the updated fees guys:

The total before fees is 782.1 BTC

JohnK's fee: 1.5% or 11.7315 BTC
My fee: 1.0% or 7.821 BTC

- I also added another column in the spread sheet: BTC Need to send to Escrow.

Obviously in this column, it is the exact amount in which you need to send to JohnK.

My fee: 1.0% or 7.821 BTC will also be sent to Escrow's address and will stay there until I start shipping and giving out tracking info!

if you do not have a single clue on what to do with the chip better consider buying a complete set..

yeah this is for engineers or people who knows how to follow the DIY guide and put together a system. I already have a few local guys lined up to tackle this. I will let everyone know the progress and if they would like their chips assembled once they arrived and I have some sort of prototype ready. But that's all in the future just planning ahead for now.

When can I buy a complete set and for how much?

If it's not too late, I'm good for BTC1. I've had a couple of BFL Jalapeños on preorder since August...would be interesting to see what arrives first.  Grin

Escrow contract: http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=Xtx4M6nN

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1

The escrow address for ragingazn628's group buy transaction for Avalon ASICs chips would be:

1At75rKd6e8b7S7AAPzZ5V3kAzhkGYhnpU

Please state and agree to the conditions (if item is received damaged, item lost with tracking, customs fee etc) beforehand.

If possible, GPG sign your agreement to prevent any discrepancies later on and please ship with tracking to prevent problems during delivery. GPG signing is not a requirement, and any verbal exchange in the form of private messages or posts on bitcointalk.org, or email is effective as a ‘statement of condition’.

The fine print:
This Contract is solely generated for the purpose of facilitating the transaction between the seller and the buyer, which refers to the pseudonyms used on bitcointalk.org.
The escrow holder, John, assumes and gives no liability or guarantees on the satisfaction of all parties involved, although he agrees to mediate and facilitate the deal to the fullest extent he is capable of.  On the event that any problems arises, he will release the escrow to whichever party that presents him with the most convincing proof and/or after an open discussion with others or theymos.
The verbal acceptance by both parties (or the failure to reject) and the sending of Bitcoins to the escrow address above constitutes the acceptance of the terms and conditions stated, and the activation of this Contract.

Thank you.

John (the escrow holder)

John, thank you for taking the time to facilatate these transactions.  A few questions, if you wouldn't mind:

1) Is that contract binding between you and ragingazn628, or is it binding between you and all parties participating in this group buy (Group Buyers)?
2) What will you do if ragingazn628 keeps the chips for himself?
3) Do I understand correctly that we (the group buyers) will deliver the full payment to you (John), including ragingazn628's 1% fee, and you will hold that 1% fee in escrow?
4) Have you done anything to verify ragingazn628's identity and destination shipping address?

I mean this with no disrespect to ragingazn628 or yourself; just trying to keep everything detailed and clear.

1) It would be binding with all parties involved up to when I submit the order (and the funds) to Avalon. Afterwards, it would be between the buyers and ragingazn628.

2) I would provide all information that I have in hand for this transaction to the public, and probably assist in any litigation/legal enforcement efforts.

3) Yes. I will forward the funds to Avalon when the preorder opens, and keep ragingazn628's fee in escrow.

4) No, so far. I would be willing to hold his identity in escrow if he allows this.

As for the contract, please use the paste bin link, and CTRL-A CTRL-V it to notepad to verify it. The forum has spacing bugs which will invalidate the signature.

Personally, this would make me feel a little better.  ~8BTC of collateral isn't much.

I believe it would need to remain binding on you, since you will be holding a portion of BTC in escrow.

So, to complete our participation in this group buy, each group buyer should:

1) Send BTC to the address John specified.
2) Reply (or PM?) stating the amount paid, expected number of chips, and preferably signed with (one of) the sending addresses.

Is that correct?  Shall we wait for confirmation by ragingazn628 to the agreement thus far before proceeding?

Thank you again.

Oddly enough, I downloaded the file for that very reason, and got the bad sig.  After going to pastebin and copy-pasting it from there, instead of downloading, I got a good sig:

Yes, I kind of forgot that I will be holding his fee as collateral (and probably identity). I will be bound to the end then, but please note that my obligation of most of the funds is over once I pass this over to Avalon.(so if Avalon fails to ship or anything I'm not in fault although this is very unlikely)

Please proceed with the payment after ragingazn628 gives to go-ahead. Please post the amount you'll be sending before sending the coins or sign your tx with your btc address to prevent others claiming your payment
Thanks!
