And any future prediction is just that a prediction,  how else do you want me to represent a future prediction, without making it up?  Seems strange you think I should make a potential prediction but base it on fact.... bit of an oxymoron....

You got me on that one.  I will concede quasi-defeat on that particular point.. NOT only for your getting me on it, but very good in the humor department, as well.   Cheesy   I am considering a come back,  and I realize that I may have gone too far out on a limb in my earlier criticism.

I will say, though, in my defense, that I have NO problem with the making of predictions, and such predictions become better when they have some foundation beyond a mere making of a wish.  Your previous "prediction" just struck so much on the fantasy La La land, without any real grounding.

For example, I predict that bitcoin will fall by 50% in the next 2 days because ... [example of something  or news that is going to cause such].

I don't want to get too preachy when my point was fairly obvious.. but I did enjoy reading your come back..... but your comeback does NOT really affect your original problem, and only points at how I may have been a bit too dogmatic in my own criticism(s).

Also an Ass is not a body part it's a member of the horse family.. The word you're looking for is arse!

NOW you are really getting into trivial technicalities... .. We all know that when I mentioned "ass" in my previous post, I was talking about some "butt hole" or anus or rectum or whatever other common parlance for a body part and not an animal.  Anyhow, a side-point, at best.

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

Greed may even destroy bitcoins most praised quality, its planned scarcity.  I don't  see what could prevent that.

It's painfully obvious that you are not an economist. An economist always asks "as compared to what?"  Is Bitcoin more vulnerable to exploitation from the greedy than say U.S. Dollars? I would argue that the answer is obviously "no" but you haven't even considered the question.

I imagine you think "well, but dollar supply is managed by central bank professionals who act selflessly".  as if banksters aren't subject to the same human frailties as everybody else. I trust selfish people to act selfishly more than I trust selfless people to act selflessly. From an economic perspective, I see it as a matter of incentives.

Bitcoin doesn't need central bankers because it has day traders and investors who have a stronger incentive to inject and withdraw liquidity at the right moment than Janet Yellen has to do the same at the Fed.

"It is no crime to be ignorant of economics, which is, after all, a specialized discipline and one that most people consider to be a 'dismal science.' But it is totally irresponsible to have a loud and vociferous opinion on economic subjects while remaining in this state of ignorance." ~ Murray Rothbard

Completely false, Jorge.

The greed for gold through history has far exceeded anything seen in the Bitcoin era. During the Spanish conquest of Mexico they were so greedy for gold that the Aztecs would pour molten gold down the throats of captured Spaniards.

Last I checked gold was still the No.1 form of money.

buy?

That all depends on your portfolio, risk tolerance and time preference. I'm full fiat in my trading account as a hedge on my cold storage. on average, it's always a good time to buy. My dad bought at the top of the 2011 bubble and it still turned out to be a pretty good deal. However there is likely to be an opportunity to buy lower in the next few days.

Those walls are lining up because it is very probable that in the next few days, a major Chinese exchange is going to go dark.

Can I ask you where the hell did you heard this? I know that you're short... But seriously, do you also need to spread the FUD?
THEY ARE STOPPING 3rd PARTY DEPOSITS. They said that already in december.

Did you read what I wrote? I heard it from the chart, from the thousands of people who sold and haven't bought back yet. TA is real. I found that out the hard way.

The chart has me stuck in bear mode. I'm not happy about it. You think I want my funds parked in stinking, depreciating fiat?

Am, ok. Not sure how to comment on this.
You do realize those people can be easy manipulated... most of them usualy sell at the bottom. That is how it works.

I hope this is the bottom. I hope a rally starts now and goes on forever. I would love to be wrong.

the more time passes at this stable price, the more likely it will go up from there, and not that it couldn't also collapse a little bit more afterwards Cheesy

That's why you need to study harder.  Tongue
greed will prevent that.....nobody wants their coins to devaluate. that is consensus.

[fud]
We will see. Who are those that ultimately will decide the future of bitcoin?

(Hint: it is neither the Government, nor the banks, nor Wall Street -- nor the owners of bitcoins.)
