If you don't hold the keys then yes, fictional, fractional, make-believe, whatever, they're not coins, they're just numbers. All these coins dumped in the last few days with no significant sign on days destroyed or transaction volume... some of them are nothing more than numbers and folks will only know which when (not if, when) there's another Goxing. Move to exchanges that operate transparently if you don't want it to be you getting Goxed.

Hey so I was wondering which are transparent exchanges? Also Im from UK which seems sooo much harder to access btc. Any of these transparent exchanges based in the UK or offer faster payments for UK banks?

No one in the UK seems to be able to keep a bank account. There is Coinfloor but they're with a Polish bank so you may as well use Bitstamp or Kraken.

There are a lot of other options to buy and sell but they're not exchanges and they have sometimes ludicrous premiums. Have a look at bittybot.co.uk

I think it's great we have so many exchanges adding 'liquidity' and 'stability'

My only worry is at what cost.

Currently we're sitting at a -25% loss from many of the new buyers in only a few days.

If these big exchanges want to "get more people to use digital currencies as a form of payment, rather than just as a speculative investment tool" then we really need to be seeing some buyer security, and a follow through with the market that they are happy buying at these prices.

By 2016 nobody is using this useless slow coin anymore. Tons of alt coins out there are better than Bitcoin. And seeing how Bitcoin adoption is greatly slowing down every day there will be no reason to use it anymore by the end 2015.

Because they don't give a shit about Bitcoin. They invested in a company. If another coin takes over Coinbase will simply switch to that one.

Apart from no one will touch a crypto if BTC dies at this stage... and to think that they will is delusional.  (I do not deny that a new coin could rise up, but the new coin would have to exist first and would have to be superior, and gain a following and a network, and would have to come someway first, whilst Bitcoin was still around, for it to rise up and surpass it, and be taken on by coinbase etc, otherwise any credibility in a new cryptocurrency, would be utterly shattered by Bitcoin going to zero at this stage)

LTC/CNY goes down LTC/BTC Goes up BTC/USD goes down. LTC/CNY goes up to get more people to trade btc for ltc, and keep the LTC/USD price at a target. Then they take the BTC and sell for USD once they hit their target pump.

More on-topic: Bitcoin for now seems to have found short term resistance at 1450 and support at 1370. It will remain to float in this band for a couple of hours or up to a day.
At least, that's what my random lines and triangles tell me. But a random whale can of course change all of that.
