so... if xfers out are being processed by hand, does this increase likelihood of insider trading? Who would be surprised if gox employees are leaking data to friends re "hey guys, word is today was a big deal for xfers out, i did 20 mil alone." Or, "we actually got some new deposits today, me and another dude processed roughly 5 mil."

srsly. how do you prevent leaking $ in and out info when it's all being handled by hand (by low level employees/temps)?

This is a concern of mine as well.

"insider trading" is unavoidable and happens in all the markets. People with privileged info will use it to make money.

Anyhow, trading in this market is pretty risky - and pointless. I think this is a "hold" moment. Just choose what you wish to hold, fiat or BTC.

For Shroomsy and all the bear haters, here goes the disclaimer - I'm holding mostly BTC since $105ish, and I have 0 funds on exchanges - they are all on my bank account or in paper wallets.

Coinbase just upped their price to match Mt. Gox. Do they know something we don't?

This is a very recent development -- as of late this morning their price was still approximately matching Bitstamp.

Edit: Well that didn't last long. Hit refresh after posting and they're back to matching Bitstamp again.

If we see a huge Bitcoin sell-off and MtGox$ reaching parity with $US shortly before MtGox announcing the problems to be resolved, we can assume some insider trading. Same is true if the spread suddenly goes to infinity prior to some bad official news.

Same here, except for ten coins each at Virtex and GoxUSD, with asks at 150 on both exchanges, in case something whacky happens overnight.

I'll revise the orders when we get close. I'm basically a hoarder which is why I follow this song and dance with amusement, while cheering for an uptrend.

I don't nibble at the daily fluctuations. Last time I sold was at 165, last buy was at 97.

I'm waiting for a deposit to go through at Virtex so I can buy a few dozen coins more while the price there is still in double digits.

Life is good.
