Missed this mornings activities - what's the reason for the drop this morning?

just another wave of panic, the FUD buildup is high.

also i think poeple are expecting GOX to soon turn on BTC withdrawals, this would mean a lot of poeple got BTC at a bargain price on GOX and would probably be looking to sell for a quick profit on other exchanges, the market sees this coming and is preemptively dumping.

serious question - is there anything in the news right now that justifies a sell off?

Where's Blitz when you need him...

For the last time, dear newcomers:

Price doesn't simply "follow" the news. News might influence it, but not necessarily the way you'd expect it to influence the price (see, for example, the Silk Road news last year, and the rally (!) that followed).

Well, anyway...

We've been in a down trend for quite a while now, and right now, things are simply picking up speed a bit.

By the way, that doesn't mean you should sell now. Every trend ends at some point.

tl;dr Learn some basic TA, the world will be less confusing.

thanks, yes i understood just wondering if there is anything we may have missed while watching this thread... just tell me when to hit the BUY button, my finger is getting itchy

Got to my entry point, started buying with buy orders staggered down. Trolls (fonzie, mah87) start doing the dirty work and herd those sheep in.

you really should be hitting the buy button daily at this point, don't expect to be able to catch bottom....
look to buy little bits constantly improving your avg price as we move lower.

in other news high lower is in 612, but will it hold!? who knows!

BitcoinSteve said we would hit the 500s on BTC-e/Bitstamp today, so far he was right. What if he is right about the sub-100s coins by Friday.  Lips sealed

Not unless it's a fluke like that last brief $100 btc-e grab.

Oh look, Bitcoin cultists actually don't have any money they could use to buy with. They are merely hoping for others to do it for them.

Depends on your overall strategy.

You believe this bear market will eventually end? We're going back to the primary trend (the looong exponential trend line) at some point? New ATH, this year, or maybe next? Buy now, I guess. Doesn't really matter if you get +10% coins if the price increase in USD is an entire order of magnitude.

You want to trade the swings? Maximize your coin stash? Then probably wait a bit longer Cheesy I'd be seriously surprised if we don't at least properly test 600, if not 500 again (stamp prices). If not tonight, then soon.

It would definitely be the first time when people who count on gox to follow through, will eventually get goxxed..

For what it's worth - I just withdrew 13 BTC from BTC-e and it appeared in the Blockchain almost instantly.

is that a surprise? why is that a surprise?

Wasn't a surprise to me either. I withdrew 2 yesterday too and I've never had a problem withdrawing BTC from BTC-e, but theres a lot of people in this thread saying you can't withdraw from ANY exchange. As far as I know - Only GOX is the black hole and I don't know why people even care what the price is there.

When GOX re-enables BTC withdrawals, BTC price on GOX goes up, right?

It's the guy who foretold that fluke last time. Just saying. Grin

It's also the guy who demands donations (of at least $100) if you want to know his "inside info."

The price premium should invert again, yes.

Oh, go look at all the fees emptygox is making right now. Just lock up all USD, lock up all BTC, and voila, you will eventually have 100% of all assets. Cheesy

They have to trade there if at all. Some there will temporarily increase their holdings but others will lose equally and GOX will eventually swallow almost all of the currency. all ur currency are belong to gox
