discrediting bitcoin is like trying to discredit Copernicus's helio-centric solar system

Well, to me bitcoin looks like the Ptolemaic system of spheres with axles mounted eccentically on other spheres etc.  An impressive technical tour-de-force an a working solution to a difficult problem, but clearly not quite the best solution yet.

PS: I agree by the way.

... and what are you doing to make the world a better place? Trying to fix all these glaring flaws you brilliantly found in bitcoin? Proposing and building an alternative monetary system?

No, wait, you are spending endless hours posting negative diatribe and vitriol on a out-of-the-way backwater thread for penny traders of digital currency you hate the entire concept of ...  must be some kind of personal hell or penance you have committed yourself to for past sins, atonement, masochism, mental health issues?
What I am going to do? Definitely not tell people to invest for the long haul like if it's some sure thing considering the problems and concerns about it  Undecided
I invite trading instead of blind investing because that way you can protect yourself from disasters like getting screwed as a hodler during a falling price like the perma-bulls have experienced all year long  Undecided

I don't hate the concept of cryptocurrencies/decentralised networks.

It's strange how he lost everyone's bitcoins except his own.

IIRC he owned four companies: the holding company Tibanne, MtGOX, a bitcoin Café (never opened) and a 3D graphics company (dead apparently).  MtGOX lent significant sums of money to these companies and perhaps to Mark personally.  MtGOX also had no employees, they hired services from Tibanne who hired the employees.   legally, only MtGOX went bankrupt.  After the bankruptcy, Tibanne requested payment for the pending bills of services rendered to MtGOX, and the request was granted.  On the other hand, the bankruptcy trustee is trying to recover those loans, but Mark is resisting.   All this is in the trustee reports available at www.mtgox.com.

EDIT: Tibanne also had a trading account at MtGOX with a fat balance.  I wonder if Mark and other MtGOX managers and staff had accounts there.  (Ethics? Is that a coffee brand? Never heard of it.)

In the end the best explanation to what happened at MtGox is the Peter R's one IMHO:

Would be great. Currently it's a sideway movement with a tendency to a bear market.

If the Willy bot report is true, somebody would have made another such bot a long time ago. Afterall, it makes everybody invested in bitcoin wealthy out of thin air, why wouldn't such a thing be interesting in one's mind?

You'd have to sacrifice a large exchange and expose yourself to criminal liability, though.

I doubt that. After reading the "Willy report" I came to a different conclusion: that a MtGox staff, possibly Karpeles himself,
pumped up the price with fake fiat, breaking through critical resistance levels and truncating corrections.
The purpose was to "build" a 2x - 4x higher price of a normal bull market, that would attract new and true speculator fiat.
If Karpeles wanted to recover stolen coins from 2011, his trading would have resulted in artificially suppressed prices.

where are those guys that are buying with both hands?

Most cultists and permabulls still live in the basement of their parents' house. And their "salary" is the $5 allowance they get every week, so they don't really have a lot of money to spend on trying to keep this sinking ship afloat.

Love it exo. What amazing job do you have to impress us all?
