“To have an organized exchange that has the backing of thoughtful venture capitalists and investors addresses one of the main problems with bitcoin: its extreme volatility,"

"... an organized exchange ..." it has a ring to it, like organised crime.

Wall st. is the biggest mafioso protection racket on the planet, it is right and fitting they should be embracing a decentralised anarchic technology like bitcoin.

Phase I complete : get them to play on our turf.

"Coinbase’s founders say they have been working for five months to win licenses from state financial regulators. They have regulatory approval in half of U.S. states, including large population centers like New York and California"

How is this good news? I think most people forgot what bitcoin is all about a long time ago.
Satoshi wouldn't be proud.

Meh, bitcoin is transparent by design. Any bitcoin-to-fiat exchange you must assume to be compromised.

This fight hasn't even yet started.

Fasten your seatbelts gentlemen, it's gonna be a bumpy ride.

For a long time to come people will still need to convert money back and forth.

They deserve the ability to do it without being raped by incompetent children or crooks. I would call that good news.

Okcoin futures lagging behind  Huh

Not many shits given about Coinbase doing anything further with BTC... I thought they were all ready a exchange.  Silicon Valley companies are weird because they start shitty and get better to show investors "Look how much better we were!"  This had to be in the plans all along... not of much news as far as futures.

They are all about tracking and other odds n ends that I don't support.

How is this good news?

My thought is this makes the acquisition of BTC safer, easier, and more available.

I'm sorry, but as long as you continue to use their currency, you will continue to be enslaved.

The most important thing to learn about bitcoin, is not about bitcoin at all.

First you must learn how the current system works, and how it works against you.

yep horrible news - one does not get busted by the exchanges so you only have to buy your bitcoins once, not twice or three times

less demand

(Proud Libtard here Smiley)

Well it does open the doors to a lot of people in the US that don't feel comfortable wiring fiat to bitstamp or btce.

Never less it's bullish and good to be long Smiley

It's because NYSE is involved that it matters.
