That's what I'm thinking but I'm not doubting what camolist posted. But boy, this place died very quickly.

Wish the BTC-e rally would be explained.

somebody bought some bitcoins, there explained.

Expecting more fireworks btw.

why would a buyer of that size buy only one one exchange and push the price so drastically?  Unless that was his plan to keep people guessing as he bought slower on other exchanges.

I'm guessing here but isn't BTC-e the last place you can buy mostly anonymously?

Certainly the only proper exchange. Kraken doesn't ask for much KYC but that's only for very low volumes.

That sure was an expensive way to get coins, who has such a great need to remain anonymous that they would pay a premium like that?

Let's say anonymity was the reason for the purchase through BTC-e, why purchase so much at market rate? Why such the rush? They could have remained anon and bought slower and placing multiple bids without jacking the price up over $260.

The whole thing is bizarre.

It's also a whole load more expensive to get fiat in and out. Their fees are pretty enormous probably due to all the third party services they have to use.

BTC-e is the spiritual home of the bizarro bitcoin move. They managed to hit $102 in one monster sell when the going rate was $700 or so in early 2014. This is peanuts in comparison.

Stop over thinking it, just because it wasn't smart doesn't mean some sinister purpose. It could just have been that... not smart.

I'm still waiting for my cheap bitcoins.

I'm not interested in loosing more money. I sold at 221.

If I don't get them... maybe i'll just stop trading...
it wasn't ever my plan anyway, I just wanted a alternative debit card.
Saw the trading interface, thought i'd try it out...

I dunno at least 1/2 the language ya'll are using.

Lost 180$ so far. I doubt i'll get it back.

Most of my BTC was over 245$

So if it doesn't go back down I guess the market doesn't want my trading.

Too bad, cuz I just ordered a trezor.

now i'm thinking maybe bitcoin should be regulated a bit. heh.. =/

that BTC-E exchange totally sucks, I cannot deal with that kind of BS.

Welcome to the 21st century in the new wild west, folks need steel stomach lining for this kind of thing and it's sad to say this. This move today shook and surprised even the best of the past of us. The average interested party probably lost money today, the above average made a few bucks and the bold super-minority made a nice stake. This might be a first from btc-e.

Yea thanks. I still think Bitcoin is a good investment, that is accepting and buying.

Holding on the other hand and trading, I'm not ready for quite yet.

It's entertaining to watch the price and try to make a few bucks of a daily basis.
I made about 25 dollars after the first month, but now that is all gone (was gonna cash out at 100) and was mostly due to a guy buying my over priced Bitcoin by mistake.

Again. If I get back in i'd probably buy at 215. But just measuring my luck recently, it's a long shot in my own personal life.
Looking at the chances though objectively, it could easily drop 15 bucks if not more.

I do have a pretty strong stomach, but my pockets aren't so deep and my experience is  limited.
I thought i'd try riding the wave so I sold at 221, and thats just about where that wave ended. =/

I've been watching it since last November or so, and I've never seen the drama that has been taking place this last month.

Well no thats not true there was that drop to 156$ around December.

Well it's been educational. 180 dollars I think hasn't been wasted. I've learned a few things, & maybe i'll get it back some day.

I'll still be using my debit card, but i'll just buy coin and send it to the card as I need it.

I just wanted to see if I could cover the cost of conversion with a few trades.

I think you did a good job, just stick around and check out the different opinions but only trust yourself. Today is so abnormal to say the least.

Just seen a quote about this on reddit, thought i would have a look here to see if anyone knows more about it, long shot i know.
It also seems Bitfinex also has some big orders on their order book, volume is picking up!
