OMG Huobi $589, the west $530, still a big gab but im delighted I'm looking at Bitstamp 521 BTC-e 501.7 Bitfinex 532.09 Huobi 589.87 ...which means we have spreads like 6% between btc-e and finex, 11% between finex and huobi, and 17% between huobi and btc-e. If anything, these spreads show how broken legacy banking is and the difficulties of global mobility of funds between countries and markets, in terms of feasibility and speed. Bitcoin is simply light years ahead of problematic and slow legacy banking and it shows in how legacy banking is creating arbitrage opportunities with vast spreads in the (much-faster-moving) btc market. BTC trading in particular seems to be the "vehicle" of exposing legacy banking for its inadequacies... Indeed the 17% spread is very bothersome. Either China is so hot they're buying everything in sight with no regards to other markets and arbs ran out of funds on western exchanges, or there's an outflow of capital from China and they're cashing out on western exchanges. Or maybe a bit of both

Bitstamp continues to bleed and sell cheap bitcoins.
But only if you pay with USD. For EUR they are on par. Now: Kraken EUR: EUR 465 ( = USD 517) Bitfinex USD: USD 524 ( = EUR 471) Bitstamp USD: USD 505 ( = EUR 455) Bitstamp EUR: EUR 464 ( = USD 516) So there's only a difference in the USD market, not in the EUR market.

Someday around the end of April I said on this thread that we could have seen 600$ by the end of May. Damn I was close. In any case I predicted a pump. I still think this is simple and pure manipulation (as usual) but what it concern me now is June. We saw knc miner shutting down just before the halving. we are close to that and this creates a lot of uncertainty.
If you got some profit put some stop-loss in place and enjoy the ride. It might be the good one.

Why's the price gone back down? Is it because when ethereum goes up bitcoin goes down and the ethereum dump is over now, or is ethereum doing a dead cat bounce?

I'm no ethereum supporter but eth is really far from being dead. When BTC price moves it's like a tsunami: it's a matter of big numbers. ETH still does not have that power. This is why, so far, all altcoins are generally traded more when btc price is dormant.

The price will consolidate and every dip below 500 is a buy opportunity. After 2-3 days it'll be +600.

yet another updraft with >$10 spread on bearswamp ... things looking a little out-of-shape.
Discontinuous re-valuation to higher levels is not an unlikely outcome in this atmosphere.
