that being said, it still isn't clear whether or not the sell-off was "caused" by the news, or merely exacerbated by it.
This "news" would never have been looked at had we been in a strong uptrend. The price affects the perception of the news. We are all ruled by emotion, and so is the market, regardless of news.

People seem to panic sell now.

if we relieve all of this selling pressure without actually breaking into a new low, this could be a very bullish sign short-term. the volume associated with this move is pretty significant and all it's doing so far is demonstrating the strength of the $860/$780 (gox/stamp) support.

I'd like to hear some theories why btc-e is higher than stamp? I can't make sense of it, at some point stamp was even higher than gox. People would sell BTC there to invest in shitcoins. Now... is there all of the sudden more trust in btc-e? Are their transfers easier then stamp? What gives

I somehow feel reminded to the recurring topic of empiricists vs. rationalists during my philosophy courses. I'm Kantian, and his solution applies to the false dichotomy "does news follow price, or vice versa?" just as well (not literally, but the idea behind it)

I am such an awesome trader. I successfully sold all of my coins this morning and because of my emotions I couldn't stand the thought of the price rising and me not having them so I bought them all back and made 0.01BTC! #Winning #tradingskillz #tradingclassestodayat6pm

People want their money out of Slovenia now that the government took over the 2nd largest bank in the country and shafted Polish shareholders?  There was an article on here about that somewhere.

Just a guess.
