The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

It's nice when bitcoin is going up, but it's even nicer when it goes down. I get to see all those people that think of 10,000 USD, becoming lucid and realizing that  we're 'only' 9300 USD away. And more near to $100.

The message I got was "don't buy drugs on the internet, launder money, and operate an unlicensed business."

Absolutely - see on page mid 15 http://www.justice.gov/usao/nys/pressreleases/January14/SchremFaiellaChargesPR/Faiella,%20Robert%20M.%20and%20Charlie%20Shrem%20Complaint.pdf how stupid Schrem was

But with the "bitlicense" thing coming tomorrow I would expect it to end up like TangibleCrypto (DeathandTaxes) fight with Virginia where its easier to just leave and setup shop elsewhere and why Bitsimple.com is a South Carolina company.

Just got around to reading those pages, LOL, he is so, so, so entirely fucked. I figured they had like 2 emails or something linking him to BTCKing, LOL.

Well, in percentage terms it is about the same distance...

EDIT but you are right: now that we are at 800 USD, 100 is quite a bit closer than 10,000.

What would stop someone in china that holds bitcoin from (moving there coin to another exchange outside of china) cashing out at a later date (post Jan. 31) on a site like say coinbase and transferring USD or another currency back to their bank accounts in china?

why would they do that

can't they go directly to btcchina or other CNY/BTC exchange

i think china will put heavy regulation on the  CNY/BTC exchanges, but they will allow then to continue.

i think, idk, pure speculation

everyone is waiting till the end of the week for clarification  by the government for the future of CNY/BTC

The guy thought he was so untouchable he invited the press into his bong-filled house and bragged he wouldn't hire anyone he hadn't got stoned with.

Then he helped major SR dealer with BTC /USD transactions to (enable people) to buy drugs, when he was supposed to be the compliance officer of an exchange.

OK - it's all alleged, but he doesn't look like he was too careful - or thought anyone would go after him.

Careless?   Take a read....

My understanding (which is LIMITED  Wink ) is that after Jan 31 if they still have coins it will be hard to cash out and to use there cash to purchase Bitcoins so if they were to use a exchange or 3rd party outside of China could they continue to trade bitcoin or am I off in that line of thinking?

I was being sarcastic. Yesterday the bulls were saying CCMF and I said we'd probably stabilize at 810 instead.

Truthfully, I only said it cause I thought of a cool way to say it. (And Bitcoin has been so boring lately)

DENIAL ! THIS IS CRASHING !

Do you mean crashing down to say $100 ? or $10 ? $250 $500  or do you mean "crash" to  $700 - $600

Or do you mean the big one? ground zero? tsunami, Godzilla on the rampage climbing up the Keiser towers?

Just trying to gauge what you define as a crash...just so I am on the same page... because I am poised, should I be ready to run to the end of the garden, in this rain,  go into the garage, get the shovel, start digging for my secret stash box where I keep my key for the lock on the other secret stash box which is buried in my neighbours garden 100 miles away, buried in a box underneath their dead dog that I helped kill, I mean bury, and go all the way over there, sneak into their garden, unearth poor decaying Fido, dig even deeper get my secret password for my paper wallet , and then trapse all the way to get my paper wallet which is currently stored in a vault in a swiss bank? so I should drive like a maniac to the airport and get my ass to the land of neutrality and cheese all to get my hands on my encrypted paper wallet, all so I can sell? is that what I should be doing right now? because......I really really cannot be bothered I just had my dinner, have run a bath...about to have a beer, kick back and listen to some tunes...  but you know if this is really bad I best get my gear on and get out in that garden with that shovel. so why are people selling, this arrest finally proves that cash remains king when doing illegal business. ergo bitcoin is by far ( atm ) not the way to go when trying to commit illegal activities.

the hypocrisy of this arrest is huge.

http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/hsbc-s-1-9b-money-laundering-settlement-approved-by-judge-1.1377272 lol why didn't they go an arrest these fucks.

HSBC was found to have laundered over $670 billion over the course of four years, and this makes BitInstant's total amount pale in comparison. HSBC was eventually fined $1.9 billion in an arranged agreement, which equates to 3/100% of the total amount laundered through their institution. -http://www.examiner.com/article/bitcoin-exchange-joins-hsbc-money-laundering-for-drug-sales

...I'm fine with you going after money laundering, etc but apply the rules the same way.
