JJG should have posted this one though! Smiley

I suck (nohomo#)

I have not spent any time learning how to edit memes, so my meme postings are always just made by some udder peep and I merely find and repost them.

INB4 JJG learns how to edit memes:

By the way, sometimes if you live (or stay) in a certain area for a decent amount of time, you can venture out further and further and further, and personal comfort can increase, but even if I can get lodging for $10 a night or $300 a month, I may well choose to lodge in a place that is 3x more expensive or even more, just depending on my level of comfort... There are certain health and safety that I don't feel as tolerant of, and part of that has come from my own growing used to a certain level of comfort but also probably I am a lot more risk averse than I was in my youth, too. So, yeah, one aspect about your above statement is that you acknowledge that you lost control and therefore that you went too far in terms of throwing too much of your fiat (reserves) at the down movement too quickly.

I am not going to portray myself as some kind of saint, any of us who are trying to employ a kind of system that both DCAs and buys on dips is likely to run into some kind of variation of the problem that you describe, which is running out of money while buying on the way down, and at some point, as long as we are not getting really retarded in terms of attempting to employ leverage, we either have to tapper our buys down drastically in terms of amounts or the increments of the buys or we have to just completely stop and just wait it out... which could even take several months if the situation becomes a bit way too far out of wack.

Just popped in to share some info I picked up.

This first one probably applies to most of us in here, since this is mostly a geriatric thread.
I just watched a debate program with some doctors, and it turns out that cholesterol is an important part of the immune system, apparently the immune system uses enormous amount of cholesterol when fighting infections, especially the "bad" colesterol, so people on statins or other cholesterol lowing meds have a greater risk of dying. This might be one of the reasons elderly patients are dying more than others (basically all elderly are on statins)
Amlopidin, a blood pressure lower, is also suspected to make things worse, one of the side effects of that med is shortness of breath.
All the dead from Wuhan had very low cholesterol levels in their blood.

So, to conclude Do not take anything that lowers your cholesterol levels and stay away from Amlopidin during the pandemic.
Personally I don't use any cholesterol lowers, there is a lot of evidence that the whole idea that it causes blocked arteries is a mistake.
And it also causes muscle pain including heart pain and bad memory, the cells and brain need cholesterol to work properly, apparently 25% of the brain is cholesterol. It also makes you low (mentally) it did that to me, when I went of my statins some 10 years ago I almost got euphoric for a week or so. I was om the max dosis and I had a shitload of side effects, headaches that would last for weeks, runny nose, aches, and the mental thing, I was also slower in  reaction, I noticed, when I hit the curb and signs sometimes as I was driving.

The reason why Italy became the European epicenter turns out to be some 60 000 Chinese workers that work in  Italian factories in Lombardy, just so they can put the "made in Italy" label on them.
https://spectator.org/coronavirus-the-price-of-luxury/

And socialists now call for a united socialist union of Europe
https://www.socialist.net/coronavirus-exposes-the-myth-of-european-unity.htm

I think that is it for today, stay safe and make sure your cholesterol is high.

Do you have any link for either the high cholesterol theory or the low statins theory  (which may be the same theory)?  Or are you just repeating something that you heard that someone else heard who had heard it from someone else?

cholesterol
Cholesterol gets a really bad rap for some reason. Every single cell in our body contains it, we literally need it to live.

It is also needed to produce estrogen, testosterone, vitamin D and it heals injuries from inflammation in the arteries (often caused by too much sugar/alcohol/other unhealthy modern not-actually-food). In the process of healing it leaves scar tissue, which is probably part of why it gets the blame for clogged arteries.

Additionally, if we don't get enough of it from our food the body just produces the missing amount.

It's one of the unsung heroes in our body, more or less.

But does yous gots a link in connection with theories about COVID19 and the elderlies?

Some reason?

Same reason they started vilifying healthy foods like red and fatty meat and butter and shoving margarine, HFCS, excessive carbs and other crap down our throats... propaganda to lower production costs and increase profits.

I never bought into that bullshit and consider myself relatively healthy for my age. I balance my diet with high-soluble-fiber fruits, vegetables and whole grains and lots of high-protein fatty foods like well-marbled steaks, chops, roasts, poultry and seafood as well as sufficient cheese and yogurt.

The only vegetable oil I'll go near is olive oil, mainly for salad dressing and adding flavor to pizza, or the occasional pasta. Vegetable oils should not be used for cooking. Very few can handle high temperatures like lard, tallow or butter without breaking down and becoming toxic.

How did you avoid getting infected?

I had not posted in days.  And that was my first post in an active thread involving other people.  Before that, my only activity today was to create a new topic.

Hint:

Quote
News: The virus is now s̴͜͠p̶̰͝r̷̰̅e̶̦̽a̵̼͂d̴͉̑ỉ̷̖n̸̙̏g̷̬͝ even online; practice social distancing!

I seem to have caught it now.  I just checked Satoshi’s last post, and noticed that he has not caught it.

I infer that the more you interact with others on the forum today, the worse your posts will be infected.

Thanks.  I thought I had myself covered; it is why I have had such difficulty communicating with the forum.

I believe that I understand theymos’ point.

Lockdowns, unlimited government emergency powers, wrecking the economy, isolating ourselves from any human connection with each other:  We are doing all this, over coronavirus?

COVID-19 is bad.  But it is not Ebola, Black Death, or even smallpox.  So...  Seriously?

Ofcourse, questions should be asked and i don't see anything wrong with your argument.

But in such situation if our first few words are "I don't believe you" then we should be ready to hear magic words "Fuck you" instead of explanation.

Maybe it's just a practice run, to see how easily the sheeple can be frightened into obeying isolation laws. Practice for what, though, is the pertinent question.

Either way, Homer made me safe - thanks for the mask!

Of course there should be a way to frame the issue that is more empathetic, and maybe just ask some additional questions about how they found out and how the cause was determined.

I surely am NOT sympathetic to the way that cryptotourist and BAC went on the attack, yet sometimes it is NOT easy to frame matters with reasonable empathy.

I surely am NOT sympathetic to the way that cryptotourist and BAC went on the attack, yet sometimes it is NOT easy to frame matters with reasonable empathy.

FWIW, I don’t think the responses can be categorized together.  Cryptotourist expressed a reasonable skepticism in a civil manner, neatly hedged just in case someone actually died:

This is a sad day.

My sisters husband, his dad passed away from Covid-19 this morning.

He didn't had any health problems, dead within 12 hours just like that. Cry

Call me cruel, but somehow I do not believe you.
In the COV19 part.

Sorry for your loss.

I do think that BayAreaCoins overshot.  Not because I give a hoot about “empathy” (I don’t), but because he drew unwarranted inferences as to fact.  On the face of Paashaas’ post (not having time to check his post history now), there is no evidence but to conclude that (0) somebody may or may not have died, and (1) if somebody died, it was probably not from COVID-19.  In case somebody actually died, appropriate courtesy is in order so as to not trivialize it.  I think that Cryptotourist struck a decent balance.

(An Internet forum post reports that somebody with no pre-existing health problems died of COVID-19 within twelve hours of first presenting symptoms?  Or maybe even within twelve hours of exposure?  Skepticism is warranted—not, “I read it on the Internet, so it must be true.”)

I second what Cryptotourist said.

Paashaas, condolences for your report of a death in your family at what must be a very difficult time.

There is something missing from your story.  That does tend to happen, when people are shocked with grief.  Please do understand that there is a major problem with disinformation right now.  I suggest that for your own sake and the sake of your family, you should not jump to conclusions that this death was caused by COVID-19.  If you have some extraordinary evidence that it was, then you should consider telling us:  A healthy person very suddenly dropping dead from COVID-19 “just like that. Cry” would be a serious matter of public interest.

I oughtn’t need to remark on the agonies of hell deserved by anybody who tells Internet fake stories that trivialize a plague causing intense suffering to real people.
