Damn, a new ATH everyday, it really feels like 2017. There are differences, sure, and I hope it plays out differently.

are you even paying attention, aesma (I am not trying to be patronizing or anything)?

We are not at the end of 2017.. early or middle at the latest..

So think about $1,163 as the previous ATH, so we kind of got stuck between $2k and $3k at around the times of the fork wars and some of the uncertainties around that in the summer.. which would be 2x to 3x the previous ATH.. so we are not even really at 2x of our previous ATH, yet... even though we are getting close...

Anyhow, there could be some corrections here or even getting stuck in a kind of battle in the 1.5x to 4x range.. and to figure out if there is going to be more UPpity from that point..

For sure, nothing is guaranteed, so it not like we should be banking on any kinds of results.. but your implying some kind of doom and gloom crash from here seems to be suggesting that you are comparing the end of 2017 as to where we happen to be now, which is far from the case, as I already mentioned..

And, I am not even saying that we might not crash from here and all bitcoin go to hell from here, but that is an outlier scenario rather than a variety of more likely scenarios that seem to put us in mid 2017 rather than late 2017 (or alternatively we could say early 2013 rather than late 2013 - pick your poison.. that ends up leading to UPpity in either case (and still not guaranteed, either).

26k€! My plan was to sell 10% at 30k€ but its going so fast lol. I was planning February/March. I dont even know if my bank will accept money from cryptos...

I would think that you should attempt to stick with whatever plan that you created, and don't get distracted by whatever is going on in terms of trying to time things.. blah blah blah..

do what you were going to do.. maybe tweak it a wee bit to feel more comfortable, but largely the presumption should be that you had already sufficiently thought through the various scenarios and your situation and reasonably arrived at your various selling points in terms of quantity to sell and what price to sell at.. of course, we cannot always get the time and the price right.. so just getting the price right and in about the correct ballpark should cause you to be able to largely follow through with whatever was your original plan.

I have just seen $ 34,150 on Bitstamp. We can get to $35 easily

I have the sensation that this is going too fast but let's not worry about that. I think we all know at some point this has to go down.

Never mind the sprawling ranch idea Bob, you're in small country territory now (with an airport rather than a strip).

I wish I had or have bought more coins, but in Hindsight I could have sold or never have kept coins at all..
I’m probably lucky enough just to have what I have in coins considering the real life struggles I have been through where selling coins was probably the right/responsible decision but I did not..
I’ve lived poor AF but never sold my coins to fix my situation..
Even now I still live lower middle class but have been able to get myself into a good enough income to get catching up..

Not selling..

Is refusing to sell coin to pay off debt basically the same as going into debt to buy coin?
Kinda the thought process I have been struggling with..

It's a similar idea.. to attempt to weigh the cost of money to decide where to apportion the money..

It does sound to me that you might be gambling a bit much with what you have done historically, so you might want to consider some kind of a compromise position rather than going all in one direction or another...

I am really glad that it has paid off pretty damned well for you.. and surely it is not an easy choice for a lot of us because there can be quite a few uncertainties in any decision to overallocate in the direction of bitcoin.. but feels good when it pays off.. but should feel even better if the level of overallocation is not going to break you if the market ends up moving against you in the future.

Back to serious discussion.

The man in my avatar is my uncle JP, who died a few days ago. He was exactly 40 years older than me. I was quite close to him and even lived with him when I was studying in Paris. He wasn't a rich man but had enough money to help my parents and his other siblings buy real estate, he bought a house for my grandparents, helped my brother and me, too. During the last years of his life he could pay for 2 women to take care of him full time (Parkinson's). He also bought a new, more practical house, cash. Yet to me he didn't live a good life. He had real trouble spending money (outside of real estate) and would wear some clothes you could swear he found in the trash. This due to the fact my grandfather went bankrupt in the 50's and lost everything, it traumatized him. He never settled with a woman, and never travelled, we all tried to bring him with us when travelling but he always had an excuse to not come.

For this new year, let's keep in mind that money isn't everything, living a good life should be the goal.

Money gives options.. that's for sure...

I never strived to get rich.. but then all of a sudden bitcoin came along, and increased whatever level of richie that I had.. and many of us holders can tell a similar story in terms of maybe we were already doing o.k., but bitcoin provided a kind of icing on the cake to provide even more options than what we had previously.

Dust spam. It will cost you more than 0.19 USD to move that UTXO and you may expose your other addresses by doing so. Not sure if Ledger allows to ignore inputs but if it does you should do that.

I've gotten more dust attacks than I care to admit. Always be sure to use Coin Control when possible, for outgoing transactions, avoiding those dust inputs.

Wonder when the day will come when it's reasonable to consolidate all the dust transactions into one address.

Never heared of that. All my bitcoins are on one adress on the ledger. And it has been sent to that adress.
