Not that Tesla (and their car control center) didn't ever get hacked yet, lucky for them it was always a Tesla-Fanboy wanting only the best for them otherwise the company might be dead by now already. Though, one has to give them that they seem to react exceptionally professional and fast to exploit reports.

Being supervised by dozens of cams and micros you don't control seems like a nightmare to me (just from a privacy view, not even talking about OpSec). As it stands now, I would have to be paid to drive such a car and not the other way around.

But having access to the firmware, open interfaces etc. could be very interesting indeed and at some point *might* change my mind.

I was 90%-10% btc to doge

and sold ltc and eth to pay the mining bills.

doge went from 0.007 usd  to 0.082 usd in a day.

I managed to sell about 13000 usd off of the doge. As I never wanted to be heavy into doge.

Basically The 25 l3+ miners were purchase in dec 2018 because I had a good  power deal and could don't get enough s9's to fill the hall.

I paid about 3k for the l3+ gear. It has earned 6x what I paid for it.

I have directed most earnings into power bills gear bills and btc.

I am going to say that I now consider Doge to be a shitcoin since my trezor hs frozen 440,000 doge coins which would be all converted by now to btc and cash.

Still waiting on the doge to unfreeze to dump it.

This is why BTC is still number 1 coin it has a lot of solid infrastructure. Not like crappy Doge which locked up about 1/2 a btc worth of coin on me.

It's my ass being driven around, I'd like to know what the driver is "thinking".

It will likely never happen though. I see two reasons off the top of my mind.

1. Keeping trade secrets. This could seem moot, given that actual production has a deep moat - high entry level, but think of copycat Chinese factories. Tesla knockoffs at 1/3 the price?

2. Regulation. This is much tougher. Once the car is smart enough to mind speed limits etc. for you, do you think traffic authorities will be keen to give up that level of control? Let you hack the "engine" at your will? Forget it.

I see your point, and I like the idea of Open Source, but I don't think you will be able to really know what the driver is "thinking"... Having access to code does not mean one can easily understand it, especially if it's complex code. Sometimes I have difficulty understanding my own code, written maybe a year before. And my code is full of carefully written comments and documentation, so beautiful it's almost a work of art. But if it's very complex, it won't be so easy to run it in your head and understand it fully. Usually, Open Source relies on larger entities, like universities or research institutions, auditing and evaluating the code, which is OK, but you'll still be relying on others to tell you what the driver is "thinking", to the best of their abilities...

IMHO, it's not likely to happen, for many reasons, some of which you've already outlined.

fucker kept going up. If my 440,000 coins left get unstuck and I sell 290,000 at 4 cents. 

I will have turned 2500 usd worth into 24,600 In under six months.
