The US House of Representatives is expected to approve president Joe Biden’s $1.9tn pandemic aid package on Friday evening, which includes direct aid to small businesses, $1,400 direct checks to Americans earning less than $75,000 (£62,000) per year, an increase in child tax credit, direct funding to state and local governments, funding for schools and more funds for vaccine distribution.

The stimulus package will come on top of about $4tn already approved under former US president Donald Trump.

My birthday today, I'm now 60, got celebrated by the family earlier.
I didn't really care that much when I turned 50, but 60 does make me feel a bit old.

I hope not honestly, I don't want it going parabolic again. If it does though I would prefer it to be closer to the end of the year.

Yeah, we would NOT want bitcoin prices going parabolic expectedly unexpectedly in the near-term future.

It's not like I had not (I am sure that others, too) been stacking sats for the past over 7 years (sure time periods are going to have varied, but anyone in bitcoin for over a few years would have had time to stack some sats decently, no? - even you somac spomac - been on the forum as long as me), and I would hate for our lillie fiends to go up in value too quickly.

Depending on who you are, you certainly can. Hence Bitcoin.

Correct. If you have an unexpected windfall at a bank (error transfer) that is classified as "not reasonable" then yes you have to give it back. Sucks, but that's life. Now if you deposit extra money to pay a debt in error then the holder of the debt does NOT have to give it back as it is a payment against the debt.

Bitcoin fixes the above issue.

That said, if someone dropped 100btc into my account by mistake I would refund it. Because it's the right thing to do and laying claim to something that isn't mine would corrupt my soul. That's worth way more than 100btc to me.

I tend to agree with you - in principle, but 100BTC?
I am pretty confident the decision to return that amount would have to age for quite some time with me.
But yeah, rather sleep well than keeping something that is not yours.

Ethically, you could request a 1% to 10% finder's fee without necessarily suffering from any moral quandaries..... I personally don't really need any more BTC, so I am just saying hypothetically, and maybe if I did feel a need to request any kind of fee it would be on the lower end of that 1% to 10% range.

now for example, if you knew that it was some diptwat like CSW that sent you such 100BTC accidentally, that could end up skewing your judgement in terms of NOT feeling morally compelled to send any back... except maybe 1% as a kind of thanks for the BTC.. and a message that says:  "I will find a good place to put these BTC to great and productive uses, since you, diptwat, are morally bankrupt and you do not deserve any BTC beyond the jailcell that you do deserve but have not yet received."

Synthetic meat may sound like a decent idea but people typically think of the final stage where presumably chunks of cloned meat are cut off in a vat with no cruelty or pain to animals. The issue is that animals are pretty fantastic machines. You grow some typically-vegetable type crops of nominal nutritional value and you feed the animal and it takes care of growing. If you are doing this industrially for synthetic meat, now you are having to provide a carefully balanced nutrient broth which has to be specifically distilled from crops, since you have no stomach, guarded from contamination since you have no kidneys, liver nor immune system and diffused into the "meat" since you have no circulatory system. You also have to deal with texture created by muscle use (unless we're all going to be eating synthetic veal). These things *are* solvable, I have zero doubt but they're not free and make the economic aspect a lot more marginal. Unless you're making the life of animals paramount (though bear in mind cows would effectively cease to exist as a species except as zoo specimens and pets under such an arrangement) which is certainly a market, though niche, that bears serving, it seems to be more of a solution looking for a problem.

You're also growing skin, hair, ligaments, a skeleton, a nervous system including no less an organ as a brain, and you're expending your energy input on the animal's movements. An animal hasn't evolved to be a steak, whereas we could evolve an organism to be just that, and I'd expect the savings to be quite substantial.

One other factor is you can centralise production more. One giant placenta for ten thousand steak babies and such forth. Ah, the future - great and awful.

Don't get me wrong its fun when it does go parabolic, but those moves always lead to crashes. And crashes burn noobs hard as they are inexperienced.

A nice consistent rise will be better off for the common worker (i'm pretending that they would actually buy BTC here, rather than wasting their savings on useless crap), I want these people to be able to grow their worth at a steady rate as a fuck you to the CBs and various modern feudal lords who have been destroying the value of their labor as much as possible since time began.

My dream is of the wealth divide returning to the levels of the 50s. Not going to happen I know but that is why it is a dream.
