Thanks. I used coinbase-pro for reference. Kraken should make more sense in that regard.

EDIT: Just registered me and wifey for SARS-CoV2 Antibody test (happening in about three weeks). Hopefully we can circumvent vaccination and restrictions this way.
Had a strange cough last year in february, lasted 3-4 weeks.

Don't you have those fast tests?
Over here there are pop in "test huts" outside shopping centers where you can just pop in and take a test, answer in 15 minutes.

Peter Schiff
@PeterSchiff

My son @SpencerKSchiff went all in on #Bitcoin on the last drop below $50k. 100% of his portfolio is now in Bitcoin. He sold the last of his #silver stocks to raise the cash. If my own son is this brainwashed imagine how vulnerable most kids are. He's HODLing to infinity or bust.

12% yearly is pretty damned good for traditional investments (of course bitcoin beats that in almost any timeline of any kind of significant timespan of 4 years or more).

As I had said several times, my various traditional investments have averaged in the ballpark of 5.5% to 6% over 30 years or so, and so anything that might consistently be having returns greater than 6% would be good (even though some years I did have returns in the 20% to 30% arena, but they did end up averaging out to around 5.5% to 6%.

Ah...well, no, not really.

Let's see: 12% minus ~10% yearly real inflation = +2%. Not great, just ok.

And your trad investments? -4%/year after inflation. Terrible.

Tsk tsk, JJG.  Cheesy

Ok... you have had better experiences?  and you were banging 10s the whole time too?

I am largely talking from about late 1980s until present and of course, I came across bitcoin in late 2013 so I had some already existing investments that I had built up during the years of my earlier investing that I could use to actually comfortably develop a relatively decent stake into bitcoin by deciding to aim to put 10% of the total value of my overall portfolio into bitcoin (sure at first in late 2013, I had not really figured out what my BTC investment plan was going to be because I had created a 6 month investment budget for myself that really was not a percentage of my overall portfolio, but instead just a target amount that I had wanted to invest into bitcoin, which probably ended up being somewhere in the ballpark of 2-3% of the value of my total investment portfolio.

In other words, I am not exactly sure about the allocation amount that I had been aiming for in late 2013 / early 2014 because it was more of just an amount that I had authorized myself to invest over the first six months of my investing into BTC (which I largely employed in a dollar cost averaging kind of way), but by the time the second half of 2014 came along, somewhere around that time frame, I figured out that my goal was going to be to get my BTC amount to 10% of the overall value of my various investments by the end of 2014 (and I reached that goal) - and then since 2015 remained so god-damned stagnant, in terms of BTC price (and even somewhat depressing), I had ended up reaching somewhere in the 13.5%-ish territory of value allocation by the end of 2015.. which caused me to feel somewhat "over-invested" in bitcoin so therefore I considered that I needed to create plans and strategies to "deal with" my haven had gotten to a place of overinvested in BTC.

Overall, I had thought that I did pretty damned fucking good in terms of my making investments through all of those years in which some of my investments were successful and other investments were failures, but overall I had an overall plan in which I had stacked up decent amounts of value over the years (including that some of my 401k investments had matching aspects - which created some free money that was injected to some of my investment amounts, and I knew few peeps of my own age who had spent time developing an investment portfolio and so many people who were at least as well off as me (and even better off than me) did not really create meaningful investment funds such as just stacking away regularly merely based on a regular dollar cost averaging which seemed to me to be building something.. even if it might not have been keeping up with the debasement of the dollar and some of us are learning those things since bitcoin.. and sure they were likely present in the 90s and 2000s as well as they became more obvious in the 2010s and even in recent years.. smartie pants (or smarter than the rest of us guy, aka Torque).

Yeah, of course, bitcoin blew my traditional investments out of the water.. and I am not even complaining about my traditional investments, even though you, Torque, seem to be characterizing me as a loser because of whatever I had been doing for around 25 years before learning about bitcoin, and even my ongoingly considering that 12% annually and consistently is not really seeming to be a bad investment, relatively speaking in the traditional investment world, if we are not comparing those levels of returns to bitcoin but just comparing it to other kinds of traditional  investments that might be attempted.

Last edit: March 11, 2021, 08:03:03 AM by JayJuanGee

if someone (he) calls himself a bunny and shows a female face as their avatar, that's just not nice as far as gender identity signaling is concerned, but, whatever, Jayjuangee could be a female too, for all I know.
However, I found a reason for my thinking about bunnies and females (apart from that english link):
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Playboy_Bunny

Playboy bunnies got stuck in my head...that's why. Those bunnies were not men for sure.
However, I would henceforth refer to @JJG as 'she' to balance the equation...The "lady" doth protest too much, methinks.

I will henceforth refer to Biodom as stalled.

 Tongue Tongue Tongue

girl, please arrive at a point that has any significance.

That one surely has significance.. cannot you even remember your own proclamations about bitcoin being stalled at the top of the price range.. and you cannot remember how ridiculous your own statement?

I am just sticking with your own unable to control ur lil selfie bearish proclamations and using them against you.

That is all.

However, let's focus on bitcoin, markets (with a sprinkle of shitcoin bashing),

I opt for more than a sprinkle of shitcoin bashing, to the extent that I might still have any kind of squeaky voice in these here parts.. since some peeps are MOAR mad than the usual at me recently.  Not going to mention any names, since I am not really into personal attacks at this very moment.

 Cry Cry Cry

 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

oh gawd... look what the cat drug in.

By the way, you are looking pretty decent these days, fattie.. like you lost some weight.. maybe shedded a few shitcoins.. perhaps?  perhaps, not by choice?

OT: Me observing the second GME short squeeze/ bubble thingy...

No squeeze IMO. Just some old style hype, with the new business plan, new CFO etc.

By the way, I gave up any dreams of an explosive short squeeze, but managed to sell enough so I'm now playing with house money. Not a lot of dough, but it does feel smug!

according to WSB it's just a gamma squeeze.

No way to test for antibodies the fast way, yet.
Still the old fashioned lab blood serology.
Maybe you were meaning antigens (for testing current infection).

EDIT: According to my lines, we should have hit the local bottom and the next way is up.

Updating the old graph... almost 1 year anniversary of the big crash...

Gold is heading back to 'normal' levels of $1600, while BTC is Off. The. Charts.

Wealth Manager: How is your Bitcoin thingy going then?
Me: Not bad. Do you remember when you asked me to buy $250 index-funds monthly and I said no?
WM: Yeah, I remember. I am sorry you didn't do that as we have a consolidated 12% yearly return.
Me: Yeah, you're right. I am sorry I don't know the exact figures of my btc yearly return as it is
Off. The. Charts.

 Grin

I know JJG but when you get exposed to Bitcoin, the simple idea of having to deal with traditional investments is a pain in the ass.
Can't really deal with that anymore.

Not sure what they are testing actually, some signs just say "covid 19 test" others say "test if you have had covid 19" but that could just be to lure you in. I might stop by one today and ask.

Antibody test should be "test if you have had covid19" then.

From what I know, this is the current breakdown for COVID-19 tests:

- Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) Test — The most accurate of all, slow, detects antigens (i.e., shows if you currently have the virus).
- Rapid Antigen (Ag) Test — Fast, less accurate, detects antigens (i.e., shows if you currently have the virus).
- Rapid Antibody (IgG/IgM) Test — Fast, less accurate, detects antibodies (i.e., shows if you have had the virus in the past).

Most frequently done is the Rapid Antigen (Ag) Test, for obvious reasons.

Thanks for this comment. Never thought of not needing to be vaccinated due to contracting COVID-19 in January. My work position is "sensitive" and there are strict policies regarding our health matters (can't disclose more, sorry). If having contracted COVID-19 makes vaccination pointless, then I won't do it (if I can avoid it). Will need to check it out.

i dont think an infection that occured 1 year ago can save you a proper vaccination. a more recent one could, though.

You're referring to OOM's case. In my case it's not 1 year ago, but this year (January). 2+ months ago. Will try to delay getting vaccinated if I can. Will see...

Thought this thread was mostly just for a bit of fun, I never read the rules. It's pretty much the only thing I look at on the forum.
