Good morning Bitcoinland.

Still in the $5xxxx range but creeping higher... currently $58188USD/$73311CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

$60k soon? A new ATH shortly after that? $70 within a week?

Go Bitcoin go.
___

All this talk about merit begging got me wondering. Why all the fuss about merit? It seems activity is more precious.

I'll give 1 merit to anyone who sends me activity points.

Oh, wait...

Mine’s Bitstamp to check the price, what’s yours?

First thing I do is launch Firefox, which automatically opens 6 sites:

- Gmail
- Google Calendar
- Outlook Mail
- Kraken 5m BTC/EUR
- Bitstamp 5m BTC/USD
- Wall Observer

In that order. Then I make coffee.

so you have an oldschool coffee machine without web UI?

I have one of these Nespresso ones, with the capsules. Great inventions. There must be some with Wi-Fi I guess... Ideally, you would install a tube permanently into your mouth and let the 'puter do its thing. Should work great with the Bitstamp chart plugin installed.

https://www.death-clock.org

Badly programmed page. No BMI under 25, two options for male?

Yeah, you're right. Pretty crappy. When I saw Homer's link I remembered of a death prediction site I'd visited years ago, maybe it was this one, maybe not. First Google search result... Actually, it just puts your selection on top, followed by the full list, so you could also have two "Female" options. Same with BMI, you could have two of the same number. Piss poor programming! At least it gives the same result for the duplicated choices, so the algorithm is probably OK.

Puts things in perspective re. our age vs. our corn... Good to HoDL, but better to (also) enjoy while we can!

I do both. At 64

I have 10 to 29 years of life left. My best guess.

The death clock says 17 to 20 years of life left .

So hodl is cool but I only hodl some mining earnings.

Since I >

1) mine
2) sell gear
3) buy gear
3) trade

the hodl part is pretty easy.
the spending part is harder.

This year a new he shed is part of the selling benefit.

Guys ('n' gal). We are all blessed. I say this in the most humble way I can. I don't know if it's luck, intuition, wisdom, belief, smartness or whatever combination of the above, but we are truly blessed. Nothing more to say really, but to thank Bitcoin and Satoshi for what they've done for us and for the entire world.

The one in your avatar looks fine though, and I find the entire avatar very beautiful. Just imagine how it would look like, had you used the ugly symbol above...

There! Much better!

Hats off..... I bet you guys bring something that People of The Wall won’t comment on.

I doubt the accuracy of these sites, especially the tight range (17-20).
Sometimes the numbers are also not very straightforward.
High BMI is considered bad, but higher BMI, when gained late in life, was recently found to be life-extending.
Possible reason: everyone loses weight in the last years of life (up to 10% or even more). Perhaps, if you have some extra BMI, you take longer time to get under some critically lower weight. At least this is my theory.
However, in fact, it is easy to have BMI under control if you live in a moderate climate and in a city that encourages walking.

This thread and I never seem to have to check price as its easy to gauge direction by the posts.

My girlfriend’s paysite, which accepts Bitcoin.  I’m the BOFH sysadmin.

(Why would I check the price?  After awhile, it gets boring to watch my ticker repeat 1 BTC = 1 BTC.  I mean, I love Bitcoin, but the thing just stays the same...)

Sometimes these things need to be pointed out to the PFY's.

What's wrong with Slot Kid?  I have even merited some of his posts in the past..

Oh, you mean the merit begging angle of his cited post?  I am surely NOT subscribing to merit begging, but seems to me that Slot Kid might have been merely trying to mimic the recently successful merit begging of ImThour, no?

ImThour got 115 merits for his merit begging post that happened to have been phrased in a "more hip," subtle and catchy kind of way that inspired, incentivized and motivated his target audience (namely generous merit givers to peeps supposedly buying bitcoin... blah blah blah).  Just a difference in tone, subtlety, or word choice between the two, no?  both present their lil selfies with merit begging conduct, no?

1st time around (ImThours post) it was cute. and obviously worked out merit wise (although more importantly btc wise for ImThour). 2nd time? nah.

This reminded of the next from the 48 Laws of Power:

Quote from: The 48 Laws of Power, Law 24, Page 556
Scene IX
Alfonso I of Aragon once had a servant who told the king that the night before he had had a dream: Alfonso had given him a gift of weapons, horses, and clothes. Alfonso, a generous, lordly man, decided it would be amusing to make this dream come true, and promptly gave the servant exactly these gifts.
A little while later, the same servant announced to Alfonso that he had had yet another dream, and in this one Alfonso had given him a considerable pile of gold florins. The king smiled and said, “Don’t believe in dreams from now on; they lie.”

The first time this was done you found it funny, were amused by it and went along with it, the second time not so much.

ImThour as he latter admitted himself was lucky to put a limit to how much bitcoin he was going to purchase otherwise he will have a thousands merits already and will have to sell his car or something else, the WO crowd is loving but ruthless on their quest to get “moar” bitcoin.

This is actually good as a study of good OpSec practices. Basically, everyone will appear in this list, but how low on the list do you want to be if you have more than 2000 BTC.

Depending on how much you actually have, it's a good idea to break your stash into smaller chunks. I would say staying under 1000 per address is reasonable even for someone who has 100k total. If you have less than that, then don't worry about it. Most people will be fine using whole numbers if they have more than 1.

Most wallets let you have thousands or millions of addresses. (there might be a technical limit of about 2 billion, ... won't be an issue for anyone even exchanges and exchanges use their own software.)
