I'm sure you, from all of the people, know that there's no perfect solution, and everything comes with its own tradeoffs and caveats. A tax free heaven that looks perfect on paper, can be a real shithole due to a ton of other problems. Does it really matter if you don't have to pay any income taxes, but now you have to "grease the wheels" of everyone who has a bigger gun then you do? And are a bunch of people putting a claim on all of the resources of the country is not just another form of taxation?

I voluntarily pay my Bitcoin private fees to use their service.

It's....voluntary....aint that great?

I don't believe in panaceas, systems are so complex that if someone points at one gear and claims it to be the root of all evil, most likely is trying to sell you something.
You must realize that not everyone is going to sit around bonfire and sing Kumbaya without gov taxes? Sure you take a publicly available unbiased decentralized open algorithm as an example, but what about regional monopolies? Or you're saying that all i'd have to do is get bigger guns and buy up roads/properties surrounding your house and then i can charge you whatever extortion fees for use? Or get together with a couple of friends to box you in or buy up local ISP/water/power plant? Of course if you don't like that you always have an option to move to another place or build your own ISP/water/power plant or get bigger guns and wrestle it away from me. Monopolies and oligopolies would be rampant a lot of people would be trying to corner the market. I think claiming that there are no downsides to any changes and everyone only stands to benefit is naïve/misleading. Did you keep count how many bribes you had to pay during your endeavors, doubt those people accepting bribes decide to start a Mars program one day to help humanity.

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

Ethereum is a failed experiment.
I like to say it is just Vitalik's pet project when he was still in college.
It has all the hallmarks to fail.
High fees when the usage is too much for it to handle on their network.
It is near it's final leg as you know this when one of the developers who was one of the first to work on ethereum retires from the project just last week.

Anyways, in the news it is Elon and his prancing around as if he was pro bitcoin while his company dumped it upon investors request.
He does not have diamond hands.

Elon didn't sell his private holdings.
Tesla sold a bit to provide liquidity figures for the quarterly financial report, afaik.

I don't put that into question, though...

@infofront: Pick it in terms of defining it, or picking one from a predefined set of (already prepared) polls?

I was buying bitcoins!!

Your timestamp 1619633791
My timastmap 1619633792

Choose the poll... infofront didn’t put any conditions so it’s open for you.

Hmm, i'm still thinking...
No idea  Roll Eyes

If you have a good poll on your mind, i'd let you choose.

Who else owns Bitcoin among your closed ones?
1. I’m alone
2. Me and my partner
3. My family and close friends
4. All of my circle owns some

Or

What’s your estimated price to sell your Bitcoins at least 50%
1. Next ATH
2. $100k
3. $250k
4. $500k
Or you going to HODL and die with your bitcoins? Don’t do this please...

Edit:
Or may be more generalized
What’s your estimated price to sell your Bitcoins at least 50%
1. Next ATH
2. $100-$150k
3. $200-$300k
4. $500k+

I think the first one is a good idea.
All the ideas i already had for a poll were already asked.
On the other hand, my mind is occupied with family probs at the time.
One of the sons is underperforming at school. It's not that he isn't clever, but he thinks he is way better than he really is. And when he's confronted with his low skills after writing tests, he's just sad. Not that he can be motivated to learn his stuff, but he remembers hundreds of names and details of pokemon, while he can't even accurately convert simple units (tons, kilograms, dekagrams, grams) - it's almost like dyscalculia. He gets it right one time out of four, by accident. $34 and 20c, converted to cents result in 340002 cents, for example. Next try, 2354cents converted to dollars, his reply is correct with $23,54...
He has a military grade maths teacher, too. I get a call from her every few weeks  Roll Eyes
I was helping many loser students in programming and computer science class, they were F's and made it to B,C's and some even found their new favorite hobby in coding. I'm good at teaching, i always tried hard to be a good teacher, but anything i try to teach him just wont stick in his head.
I really started to feel kind of helpless, lately.
My weak mind is occupied by spinning thoughts around this problem.
The trial to choose a poll made me somewhat aware of it.

Very interesting. Could it be that they are used to a phone calculator, so they don't need to solve problems by thinking about it?
According to mom, I got severe food poisoning when I was a small kid, and then refused to eat typical food.
Dr. suggested to place multiple types of food in front and maybe I choose something for starters. I did. It was something weird.
The point is-maybe give him several learning options...who knows, maybe he is a football player or a poet?

My god, no Smiley
There is that app called FamilyLink, i'd recognize it if he'd be using that calculator app on his phone.
He would fail at the basics, constructing correct input values. I refuse so much to think as an "Idiot" about him, this is how kids were seen when i was that young.
I would be glad to find the key to his door that blocks him from using his brain efficiently, while i can not name anything he has like "talent".
He is quite a daydreamer, he's reading all the time, but he is not a good writer at all.
Sometimes i think about the possibility that he subconsciously doesn't want to become adult, for whatever reason. Once he said to me that he doesn't want to become a teenager and that he will hate puberty.
We're not the kind of parents that try to break him, just to make him obey to the (mostly stupid) rules of this particular society. We were both raised that way and because of this we broke out of it, so fuck that. The main concern is that we will have to see him struggling with the school/work/life system for years to come, before he will hopefully develop his yet undiscovered strength(s).

Did you ever think maybe you are the problem?

You sure don't have a high opinion of him, he will know this and it will lower his self esteem.

Give him some practical stuff to do.

Ride his bike, take him shooting, fishing. Help out with a home improvement project, let him use real tools.

Let him help service your vehicle, or even drive it if he is big enough, cook the family meal.

Buy him a fun electronic kit that requires the use of a soldering iron.

Most of all show the boy some respect.

Anyone who uses Bitcoin should understand consensus. If it is consensus to use systems such as decentralised justice systems then those will be used instead of involuntary extortion schemes.

I would hope that people that by now, with Bitcoin having proven that a voluntary system is possible, that people would accept that such a system can be used for more than just money right?

It's completely lazy thinking to rely on extortion to pay for things. It's time to re-think that little piece of our "civilised society". It is like defending slavery as people are just finally realising that hey, maybe this is the wrong way of getting our food...maybe we can do better.

You are defending extortion...just remember that.

It could be attention seeking behaviour. You are rewarding him by spending time with him teaching him when he acts dumb. So he acts dumb to get your time & attention.

Spend time with him, but not trying to teach him stufff all the time. Make him work it out himself and remeber not everyone 'gets' maths. If he's reading a lot like you say then he will be fine.

Yes, i am indeed self-reflected in that kind that i questioned if i am the problem, not only once.
I love him, the same like my other children, they are all special and i am able to help them with support, attention, sharing time and respect them all. I don't even compare them, because they are too different that it would make any sense. I actually take him to fishing, we let him make pancakes for all of us, at least every two weeks, he has his own set of carving knife. We didn't do things to lower his self esteem, for sure. H isn't really interested in practical things. He's a dreamer, and that's also nothing i/we don't value.
Me and my wife are educated when it comes to children and how they see and interact with their environment. She is actually a therapist, working with young adults, but she knows what's going on in a kids life, has worked with kids and teenagers before. I hated school as a kid. I didn't do much homework, but i knew my stuff and that was enough to pass. That's why i don't think he's only a good child when he is good at school. But he's doing very hard. Some day he came home crying, with his first F on a maths exam. We didn't make a fuzz  about it. We never did. We're not that kind of persons. We don't blame him, we just try, try, try.
He's a cool, friendly, funny dude, who likes to laugh a lot, like everyone in our family. Laughing and fun was always important to us, we're not serious if we don't really need to.
But i will watch closely if i/we are disrespectful to him, in any way. At the time i'd be not aware of anything like that, we also don't try to force him to "be some way".

It could be attention seeking behaviour. You are rewarding him by spending time with him teaching him when he acts dumb. So he acts dumb to get your time & attention.

We spend time just having fun more often than not. He seems just not to "get" maths, indeed. It's not so much a problem for me, but he's got a very old fashioned grumpy maths teacher. She has got a son herself, who is also a "dreamer", and she doesn't get along well with him (my son told me). I guess she might be additionally triggered by this kind of personality, but i don't think she's self conscious enough to grasp it. I heard from other parents that she tends to choose one or two pupils to pick on. Maybe some of his low self esteem is based on her interactions with him at school. I will take a closer look at this, from now on.

I remember in 2014 when I first started trying to convert nocoiners into Bitcoin I would ask them about the ever rising prices in their daily lives and they seemed to be vaguely aware but usually minimized it by making it out to be a long term phenomenon and something that they need not worry over in the near term.

Uie-pooie were only born in November 2018, so could not be possible.

In other words, I don't believe you.

 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

How long before next big move up you think people? I think April is ending as small red candle on the monthly. Consolidation is boring, I need big green dildos please  Huh

Haha don't worry, with this kind of message.. you will get the reply from...

3...2...1... ------> JayJuanGee  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Yes.  Since we are talking about price possibilities, we should appreciate that the price could go in several directions.

If you wish that it would go up, and you are bored by consolidation, then perhaps you should also feel grateful that it is somewhat holding its own (in a kind of Lindy Effect) and it is NOT going down?

Matters surely could be worse.

So stop being party poops, when there is nothing wrong.

And, as for you gallianooo, hopefully you have gotten over your inclinations for prognasticatenings of $40k to $43k - or would it be wishenings? since such price levels may or may not happen ever again.  Surely, we cannot know with any level of certainty.

Edit:
By the way, I am frequently bothered by the amount of froth in the shitcoin space - even when they are going down relative to bitcoin because I frequently consider shitcoins to be overvalued, yet in recent times, it seems that there is even more froth building up in a large number of coins, whether they are connected to the scam coin ethereum or to some other shitcoin.. - pick any random coin and they all seem to be pumpening, currently... so I don't really know what that means in terms of BTC's price.. whether it will pump or not - because surely the head gives few shits about the tail - and so it might play out weirdly if there were a scenario in which shitcoins and bitcoin pump at the same time.. at least to me that would seem weird under current market conditions, even though I am not going to rule anything out  when it comes to what might happen with regards to short term bitcoin price direction, shitcoin price direction or the relation between the two... just ongoingly bothered by the ongoing froth in the shitcoin space.. that's all.

Cambridge University estimates that Bitcoin miners use about 130 terawatt hours of electricity a day, or about 0.6% of the world's consumption. A terawatt is equal to 1 trillion watts.

The electricity wasted by plugged in but inactive home appliances such as stereos, TVs, computers, microwaves and washing machines could power Bitcoin mining for 1.8 years, the researchers said.

Taxes are kind of a price to pay to live in a civilized society.

If civilisation is built upon involuntary extortion...it's not really civilised is it?

Indeed! In fact this extortion for services should be removed. The first place of course is the grocery store: People should be allowed to take what they wish and pay whatever they believe is "fair".

That's kind of where your argument is going and it's not a good place. But truth be told that sort of "voluntary cooperation" was requested of people in 2020 and oddly enough a significant number chose to be "free riders" with respect to using cloth masks. So it don't work.

End of line. :-)

I am happy to see these levels on BTC yes, but till we are not strongly above 56/57K (and then above 62+), the bearish scenario (under 50K and possibility to dip lower 40-45K) is still on the table imho. I am agree more time we stay at these levels (or higher), less chance that this bearish scenario can happen.

Let's see what's going-on on may.

I do not expect ETH users to pay Bitcoin fees to use their service.

Hope you're right, but the effectiveness of such ideas first need to be demonstrated and proven as working in real world on smaller countries/economies. Don't see it happening in US first, as in hey everyone lets just get rid of IRS and try out this idea which works on paper.

1-4 does not fully pertain since you don't HAVE to sell, for the umpteenth's time.
You've got a NY Central park facing apartment. When you are going to sell...the likely answer is never..lob it to your descendants.

Trust me I thought of this... Pass it on to your descendants!!!!

In fact that’s one valid option!!!

Btw how much is NY Central park facing apartment? Never thought about it....  2 beds at least? Just to estimate Bitcoin price Smiley

Not a good idea to pass it on if you live in the USA.  The Biden administration has proposed the removal of "step up in basis" which means your heirs would have to pay the capital gains tax on gains you accrued rather than have the basis reset to the value of your bitcoin at the time of your death.  Generational wealth wont be a thing in future America.

Biden plan creates a second death tax on top of the existing one, paying 66% (1m+) before states getting their share.

It's time for MSM to start ragging on those bastards who leave their electrical appliances plugged in needlessly; wasting energy that could be used for moar bitcoin mining!  Of course that's not as sensational so I wont hold my breath.
