1-4 does not fully pertain since you don't HAVE to sell, for the umpteenth's time.
You've got a NY Central park facing apartment. When you are going to sell...the likely answer is never..lob it to your descendants.

Trust me I thought of this... Pass it on to your descendants!!!!

In fact that’s one valid option!!!

Btw how much is NY Central park facing apartment? Never thought about it....  2 beds at least? Just to estimate Bitcoin price Smiley

Not a good idea to pass it on if you live in the USA.  The Biden administration has proposed the removal of "step up in basis" which means your heirs would have to pay the capital gains tax on gains you accrued rather than have the basis reset to the value of your bitcoin at the time of your death.  Generational wealth wont be a thing in future America.

Biden plan creates a second death tax on top of the existing one, paying 66% (1m+) before states getting their share.

Starting to see more mainstream articles about bitcoin. Far more informative and far less fear mongering in this one ...

Cambridge University estimates that Bitcoin miners use about 130 terawatt hours of electricity a day, or about 0.6% of the world's consumption. A terawatt is equal to 1 trillion watts.

The electricity wasted by plugged in but inactive home appliances such as stereos, TVs, computers, microwaves and washing machines could power Bitcoin mining for 1.8 years, the researchers said.

It's time for MSM to start ragging on those bastards who leave their electrical appliances plugged in needlessly; wasting energy that could be used for moar bitcoin mining!  Of course that's not as sensational so I wont hold my breath.

Good morning.
Hoping for an inverse SHS when looking at the charts.
On (possible) completion and confirmation the back-and-forth "when moon" discussions will stop and the text-to-gif ratio will get much lower again, while we're heading to $70k  territories Cool

Taxes are kind of a price to pay to live in a civilized society.

If civilisation is built upon involuntary extortion...it's not really civilised is it?

Indeed! In fact this extortion for services should be removed. The first place of course is the grocery store: People should be allowed to take what they wish and pay whatever they believe is "fair".

... typical socialist, moral relativist answer ... you're fucked up dude, you know that right?

... you just used theft as a moral equivalence to justify widespread socialised theft ... totally devoid of morals.

Socialism is a disease, it's true, but society is already fucked when it's morals have gone, socialism is merely filling the vacuum I think.

Extortion, coercion, incarceration are the final resort of course. It's an ideology without basis in morality, the outcomes are all too predictable and have been observable and widespread. At this point being an active, advocate for socialism is succumbing to the disease and choosing the moral vacuum, whilst willingly ignoring the huge toll and human suffering it has caused.

Y'know, one alternative to taxation is for the government to just print the money it needs. We're basically there anyway and it avoids all that messy taxation business. This only works at the federal level obviously though it would be interesting if it extended to the state level too. A bit of competition between currencies and the ability for people to express confidence in the various levels of government with exchange rates would probably be quite revealing.

The pie-in-the-sky communism that always gets no-true-Scotsmaned or the more realistic kind of ugly communism where political opponents are persecuted and the inner party are privileged and protected? Cause I may have news for you.
